One time I had a dream for THREE DAYS

I'm Max, I'm new to the forum, but not to lucid dreaming. I've been controlling my dreams since I was a kid and didn't know other people did it (or what it was called) until I started Googling it. It's great there is a community for it!

One time I had a dream that seemed to last for three days... I went to sleep two times in it, and I had what seemed like three full days in between. I was only lucid during the first two days.

Unfortunately, I don't keep a dream journal, and I don't remember the first day. All I remember is it was pretty intense, I was lucid, and i thought I was going to wake up after it, because it was really long.

SO I "WOKE UP" (on the second day) but I wasn't home. I was in a wooden shed, in the middle of an infinite golden grass field (wheat, maybe?). I stepped out, and the shed disappeared out of view and out of mind, and I was alone in an infinite field. I keep repeating it because it wasn't more the field itself, or the goldness, it was the feeling i felt. It was indescribable, it seemed like I was at one with the wind and that grass. Also, the sky was VERY high up, like 3 times as normal, and the vastness of the whole field/airspace is indescribable.

      THEN

As I was looking into the sky, I saw a horrifying sight. A huge black structure was decending out of the sky. Now the sky was so high up already, that for this thing to come out of the clouds, it must have been as big as the Empire State building... it had really tiny rectangular windows, which also gave away how massive this thing was. It was slowly descending, the HUGE building of a ship, and then as it came more out, I noticed it wasnt just one building, it was a structure composed of cubes... the first level had one cube, then the nextt one had 9, the the next one had umm... 25 i guess i dunno but it kept getting BIGGER AND BIGGER, and then I saw jets scramble for it, and then i saw that thing shoot them down, and one was trying to escape. That's when an alien "ship" came out. It shot the plane down, and as I was aware of it, it became aware of me, and "swooped down" to terminate me. As it tryed to basically kamikaze me, I noticed it was kind of a bat creature, but with wings more like technology. Like a biomechanical plane thing ....

THATS WHEN I KNEW IT WAS A DREAM. I dont know why it didn't click before, but when that thing came down at me just like the green goblin at spiderman, I told myself..... SWEET. ITS A DREAM... but my victory was shortlived as the thing came back again.

I needed to learn to fly, i said to myself. And I started jumping. First it was like a trampoline, then i felt i could hover, and then at one defining moment I "Flew away"

Same day, I flew away into some other place... i forget this whole segment of this incredibly long dreamday. But I remember I end up in a

TRAIN STATION (from here on I am no longer lucid. I know it's a lucid dream forum - but don't you wanna hear how it ends?? )

It was a long-distance train station that was located inside a rocky mountain. The train came through a tunnel, and the entrance to the station was through a cave.

I think it had a sign that said

      Oregon Arizona
      <---- --->

(I live in Los Angeles, so that makes sense, but it could be any random dreamstinations)

The train took LITERALLY THREE HOURS to come. There was a clock on the wall. It moved very very slow. We were all pissed. We? Well I made a bunch of friends. They seemed very cool. That's because I knew most of them from real life from hollywood... but these guys had differrent identities. They were american, not russian like me, and they had diff names and stories. We talked for hours, I forget all their bios, but they told me their WHOLE life stories. After the train came, I met more people inside, and my friends knew some people too. The train ride took about 7 hours of real time, too, we had about a group of NINE just chilling and talking about random stuff for about 2 hours, and then I went to sleep. The sound of the train's conductor saying we arrived at stop woke me up. I knew it was the next day because the sun was up....

I finally got... to I can only assume Arizona. Because it was dry as a desert. I came to my grandparents house (my grandparents live in russia, and these werent my grandparents, they were some american couple)

AND my grandparents said they have a PROBLEM.

As soon as I stepped inside, I knew what it was. Everything in the house, EVERYTTHING was made of WOOD. The chairs, tables, spoons forks, tv, clothes on the clothesline, everything was made of wood, and it was CRACKING. I saw the bowl, which was kinda the centerpicece because it was the only bowl in the middle of a very small wooden table.

The bowl was cracked, and i decided to try to fix it.

BUT THEN THE ALIEN SWOOPED OUT OF NOWHERE AT ME,
      SCARED ME,

      AND I WOKE UP!

      I was so pissed.

But not really, because I woke up remembering the WHOLE dream, and i just started LAUGHING.... i couldn't believe i had a dream for 3 days straight, i felt like i cheated at life or something. It was great. I was very honest about the whole story, I didn't make any of it up... I mean how could i lol.

      Hey Max, welcome to DV!

So, to be honest, I only skimmed through your post.

Did three real life days pass or did the dream seem to have lasted three days? Like did you go to sleep on Monday and wake up on Thursday or did you wake up on Tuesday?

I once had a lucid dream that felt like it went on for so long that I had to make it end because I thought it was making me late for work. As it turns out, the dream was definitely not going past my alarm clock.

Whenever this happens, I think it's because your brain has tricked itself into thinking time has passed when it really hasn't. For example, let's say you're watching a movie. In once scene, you see something happen, then it goes to a black screen, and says "Three days later..." You are hereby tricked into thinking it's three days later when really only a few seconds have passed.

Also, your brain will skip over the parts of the dream that aren't important. I once had a dream like this:

I get up, get ready for work, and get in my car to drive to work. The next thing I know, I'm at work. My brain skipped over the car ride as to not waste dreaming time.

It's extremely unlikely that you dreamt for three days, but, like I said, I didn't read the entirety of your post.

      But, once again,

EDIT: Sometimes a series of dreams will start where the last one left on which gives the feeling on one super-long dream. And, everything in a dream requires your attention to exist. If you are paying attention to how slow time is going, or how long something is taking to complete, well....

Maybe if you just read it you wouldn't have to ask all of those questions. Hmm?

it was about 11 hours in the real world, but it was three full days in the dream world. I went to sleep (and had dreams) in the dream world twice, for many hours. And waiting around for the train was so boring... i wasnt lucid at that point and it was just a stupid metro station insidide a rock mountain. you should read the post... its a pretty weird dream. I know its a lot of text, but Im sure you can tackle it if you read one sentence at a time.

IN CASE YOU SKIMMED THROUGH MY RESPONSE:: NO, I ONLY SLEPT 11 HOURS, it SEEMED LIKE 3 DAYS THO. lol

      and thanks for the welcome!

You're welcome! (no pun intended )

I'll give it a read, just for fun. So you understand what happened then? I wish this would happen to me, haha.

Yes, I understand... i thought the same thing. Either it's cognitive illusion of time dilation or it was the three days were seperate dreams. It was a trip... it didnt feel like any dream ive had before or since. There was an intense spiritual euphoria throughout the whole dream, it felt sooo good. I felt rested when I woke up, not just physically, but spiritually and emotionally... it was amazing...

usually your mind goes on a trip, but this time my soul did, too...

Actually, just today I had a dream where I was in school taking a test for like 40 mins, then sitting in another class for like 10 minutes. It seemed really long, I remember filling out each question and everything that happened in between.

      placed memories

I have another theory to this:

do you remember you having a dream where you are someone else, and you remember their MEMORIES?

I think some of our dreams' events might just be "placed" memories... what do you think?

Nobody has REM dreams for 11 hours straight. REM periods are staggered through the night.

As to the 3 days, theres a very simple answer. You were mistaken.
      Dreaming mixes you up.

everyone is so spiteful lol... lets all do some jumping jacks and be happy hahaha

the closet thing i can even come to think of something like that (that would be possible) is the fact that when i first got into lucid dreaming 4 years ago, i remembered 9 dreams in one night in full detail, but i remembered them all when i woke up in the morning, not as each one passed.. and i can tell you my mind hurt for half the day..why.. i dunno..

that is my story, hope you all had a great 4th of july!

      lol
