my most detailed DEILD transition

I had a lucid today, and was able to remember everything before and during the transition period. I figured I should post it here so people who've yet to have a lucid can get a better understanding of what may happen to them. I also hope that it helps them get to that lucid state without ever having to struggle at the the transitional periods.

Keep in mind that this is not a generalized guide to every single type of WILD, but it is what I tend to experience during most DEILDs...which is a sub category of the WILD.

technique state
I lie there in bed thinking about all the reasons why I should have realized that was a dream. I had to stop short of thinking the entire dream through though, because that would've wasted my window for the DEILD. I started out using my FILD technique, and realized right off the bat that everything was was relaxed...naturally, and so I switched over to breathing. After several slow breaths, I felt a rumble in my head, and it completely stopped. I knew I was close, so I started breathing naturally, and thought about nothing.
the SP state
Suddenly, it felt like I rolled out of bed, but my legs were still in it. And then it felt like i started sinking into the floor. Only a couple of inches at first for a couple of seconds, and then it stopped. It started again, and it felt like I was about a foot into the floor. Then it felt like I was free falling. Everything is still pitch black, but I can feel the wind in my face. As I make my "descent" I started setting up the dream. I tell myself over and over that I'm going to be at the beach. I picture it in my head, and think about how the sand feels, how the water looks, and even the smells and sounds. I was wondering if I should open my dream eyes, and all of a sudden, everything started forming automatically.
dream state
It happened very quickly. The sky, the sand, the water...it was almost at once. Normally it takes a while to form, and I watch it...almost like a painting, but this time, it seemed like thinking about it more than normal paid off.

And there you have it folks. My ride into dreamland during that particular technique. Once things get started for me, I just relax and let things happen. And when it starts getting intense, I know that the dream is about to begin, so I start setting up my scene. It keeps my mind off of whats going on, and it simultaneously helps me establish my vivid, and stable dream.

The farthest I've got from this is where I feel sort of like my body is being blown in the wind, like I'm sort of floating around in the air. But I always just fall asleep soon after. What's the right time to try this technique?

immediately after you wake up from a dream without an alarm preferably. If it takes you longer than 10 minutes to slip back into a lucid, you may as well try a wake back to bed technique such as a WILD. For a more in depth look at the actual method (as opposed to the experience, check out my tutorial here. and good luck, i hope it works out for you :)

The times I've tried DEILD it's felt completely different from what you experienced.
If I realize I'm awake and haven't moved, I'll start saying a mantra in my head. Then I consciously try and relax my body a bit. Not that it actually can be more relaxed, but me wanting to relax it brings on SP very, very quickly.
Then it feels as if my muscles are cramping, only it doesn't hurt half as much as real cramps (though it hurts a little), and I feel like I'm tipping out of bed, even though I can feel the bed against my back. This goes on until I enter a dream, fall asleep regularly or try moving and breaks if of.
The one time I got further than that, I felt as if I rolled out of bed, hit the wall 1 meter from it and felt numb. Then continued with a dream.

i've had something similar like that happen to me once during a failed WBTB WILD attempt. It felt like i was doing crunches, and then it moved down to my legs....it felt as if they were moving.

I kept finding myself going right back to sleep normally after trying to DEILD, and FILDing the entire time kept me too alert. Thats when I decided to combine both by FILDing untill I felt the slightest bit of SP, and then using the regular wild method to finish entering the dream. It's kinda like an ice luge...you push for a little bit, and when it starts moving, you jump in.

Who knows, maybe you could benifit from my technique. I've been working on it for years, but the problem is I only find it applical to DEILDs. I've gotten it to work a couple of times on regular WBTBs, but the success rate was too low to continue trying it.
