      Where's my logic? READ THIS!!

Right, hot on the heels of the major success of my last topic ("Should LDing be taught in schools?" - which afterwards I actually thought was a rather crap subject, but you lot obviously thought differently ), here's a couple of questions for you:

How realistic have your LD's actually been?
I mean has anyone had an LD that amazed them to the point of astonishment at the fact that they feel like they are in another world?

I remember waking thinking how amazingly realistic it seemed, but I also remember not acting as I would in reality, because if my brain was working as it would in waking life then I would be so amazed that I would be examining EVERYTHING for hours... which brings me to the second part of this post:

Why do our minds not work to full potential, especially in the logic and memory categories?
I've noticed that with Seeker's Tasks of the Month most people forget to perform his task, whereas if you arranged to, say buy some carrots at lunchtime, then when lunch came you will think to yourself "what did I need to do at lunch?" and then remember to buy carrots. However I never seem able to ask myself "what did I need to do in an LD?" which is exactly what I would do if my mind was as it is in reality. ...Obviously if you don't experience this problem, or have managed to work past it I would like to hear your views.

I had some theories as to how this might be overcome: Perhaps speaking to your appointed Dream Guide and organising a meeting of all the parts of your mind. Where each part of your subconcious (your logic, creativity, reasoning, emotion, fear, anger, memory, etc) was manifested in an actual person each with just that trait. Then you can ask your logic and perhaps memory to help you more, maybe even join you? It will be interesting to see if this helps in reality aswell? It'd be fun also to see what form they take!

Yes. Ive had 3 in particular where I just stand there in awe
The dream doesnt last that long after that actually - I'm too blown away

Because LDing consists of consciousness splitting. If you're entire consciousness were present, you probably wouldnt be dreaming.
Hence certain tasks are exceedingly difficult. Usually memory, logic and reasoning. And lucidity usually.

Yea I doubt you could be 100% of yourself in a dream because your mind is doing other things to create the dream. Besides, you are sleeping after all. With that said there are ways around it. Your memory and logic didn't disappear, its just not working 100%. Like the example you gave, I bet you have forgot to do it just as many times.

The most common thing to do is just keep repeating what you want to yourself. You have to really get it stuck in your head, when you notice your dreaming do x. Thats how RC's work. You do them all day so when your dreaming and can't remeber much you do it anyway.

I plan out what I want to do ahead of time and think about it a lot. I also think about it before I go to bed. I guess I attach some sort of feeling to it and really want what I want to do. I usually memorize anything that I think my logic or memory could screw up. I memorize what I want to ask my dream guide, how I'm going to attempt to keep myself from waking up and my dream plan. I hope that helps.

      Chemicals

I think that once you start dreaming, your brain is under the influence of natural drugs.

whether you beileve that these only help the split, or the whole experience is one big hallucination is irrelevant.

The thing is, it seems that with proper awareness and concentration, you can go ahead and be just as aware and able to use your mental faculties while dreaming as while awake. It just takes time getting used to it.

Meditating regularly helps this drasticly in my opinion.
