      Lucid, yet not so

So I had an experience that I thought may be worth sharing as it may or may not be unique. Anyway, I'll get to the dream. So I was dreaming I was outside with a group of people, I decide to jump up, and little to my surprise I start flying. Strangely, this doesn't seem odd to me. Keep in mind I'm not lucid, but I am flying, I also feel a level of control, sort of like I could do whatever I liked... But I wasn't lucid. Later on in the dream, I explain to the characters that we are in an environment like a lucid dream where we can do whatever we want, it's like a simulated lucid dream (how I did not realize I was dreaming here is beyond me).
It just seemed so strange to feel in control in an experience like this, being I wasn't lucid. Has anyone else had an experience similar to this, where they had all the powers of a lucid dreamer, but none of the knowledge of being in a dream.
Sorry if I'm bringing up maybe an old or redundant topic, it was just interesting to me since it never happened before to me.

It's cool if you repeat a question that has been put up before. No big deal.

It isn't uncommon to have a measure of control over your dreams without knowing that you are dreaming. Keep in mind that dream control and lucid dreaming is not the same thing. You can be lucid and have no dream control and have control but not be lucid. Generally the two combined is called a perfect lucid dream.

I have had dreams in which lucid dreaming was discussed and never bothered to RC to see if I was dreaming or not. You will probably have several dreams like that and wake up kicking yourself. Don't worry about it. The lucids will come when they're ready.

But no, your experience is not very unique.

      I hope this helped!

Lol I've had lucids before, and usually if stuff like this would happen it would almost be instinct to go lucid, thats why this was almost odd, in a lucid you know you have control, while in a normal dream you don't, you almost feel like everything was predetermined in a regular dream. Well in this dream, I didn't feel like it was predetermined so to speak. maybe I'm overanalyzing it xD

Perhaps you havn't traINED YOURSELF TO REALLY RECOGNISE DREAMS WHEN THEY ARE OCCURING, WHICH COULD EXPLAIN WHY IT DIND'T REALLY CLICK TO YOU.

oh, crap. I hate accidently hitting the caps lock key.

You could work on seeing weird events as more of a trigger to wonder abotu dreaming if you havn't already. I've had similar experiences, but yours was crazy.
      good times

I've had a very similar dream once. I was explaining people in my dream how to check if they were dreaming or not. I actually showed them my watch twice, explained that if, just like just happend, you see two different times you are dreaming. So I did a reality check to show them, but somehow I didn't realise I was dreaming. Really laughed at myself the next morning.

This is totally a dream I would have. I remember when I first joined this site and started trying to LD, I had a dream where I was walking in a park with a friend of mine and everybody around us was talking about LDing and I was like, "hey, isn't that weird that I'm trying to learn to LD and these people are, too!" Now, did I become lucid from that? Why, no! Our minds in the dream state are so good at rationalizing!

Heh this kinda reminds me of Waking Life, where the guy gets a whole explenation of what lucid dreaming is, how it happens, and how to tell if your in a dream. Then after he's about to say goob bye, he does a reality check and realizes the whole thing was a dream. Kinda similar to everyones experience without the actual discovery of it being a dream part lol

I am in control and can do whatever I like in many of my dreams without being lucid. I'm constricted by my "dream logic" though. For example, I have never flown in a dream because my dream logic dictates that it's impossible to fly.

When you are dreaming your logic center shuts off. That is why everything abnormal seems normal.
