      natural to some people??

      Well..
I was talking about lucid dreaming with some of my friends at school and one said that he has been able to control his dreams since he was like 5 years old, no problem. He just always new he was dreaming and could just control his dreams.

      Is this normal?

I definitely can't do that. i can barely lucid dream when i'm concentrating... and i've only done it once.

Hi. I am one of those people. I could tell you how it began, and trust me I definitely don't take it for granted, my dreams are always on the verge of nightmare and if I wasn't able to control them almost 100% of the time I would not want to sleep at all. (Though lately I've been wondering how healthy it is to be conscious throughout your sleeping when you are not naturally supposed to be)

Ok. When I was very small I remember having a nightmare (like many small children), though this nightmare was particularly gruesome and I still remember it vividly. I would call for mommy and daddy and they would comfort me and tell me it was just a dream, and I would fall back asleep and have the same nightmare. After about four or five times doing this I fell asleep and suddenly I knew I was dreaming and I killed the monster thingie and never again did I dream without knowing it. well...almost never again.

I'm kind of one of those natural lucid dreamers...it started when I was maybe 6 or 7. I remember being in a long set of dreams and figuring out ways to wake myself up, just because I was so incredibly bored. However, it's almost never been every night (so far). When I was growing up, I used to talk with people about "knowing it's a dream" and they'd act like it was strange for me to be so fascinated by it.

But I did have a lot of nightmares at that stage in my life. I think that might have caused lucidity on several occasions. For years after that, the frequency of my lucid dreams went way down, but several years ago they started happening a lot more, and I gained a whole new fascination and appreciation for it

Lately I've been having lucids every several days, but not intentionally. I've found that I get more rest when I have normal dreams.

      wow sweet! this is rare?!

I've been doing this naturally for years.... think I was 5-6 when I had my first. I only discovered it was lucid dreaming because my friend asked one day," Wouldn't it be sweet if we could control dreams".... I kind of laughed and said,"you can't?".

8/10 of my dreams are always lucid, or atleast my mind leads me to believe this. I was talking to my mum about dream controlling last night and she too (as I) has been able to control her dreams since childhood. She can fly (which I'm yet to do) and all sorts in her dreams.

Is it in the genes, luck or a combination of the two? I don't know, but it seems we are very lucky individuals!
