      Weirdest. Dream. Evar!!!

Yes, my title is an homage to RayWilliamJohnson . Anyway forum, I had a weird dream. So it started with it being like "movie night" at my high school, and there was a preview of a movie featuring William Shatner (sp?), but he was dressed as woman. After a while of wondering, it seems his character was a cross-dresser (not just the actor), and the story was about him building a friendship with some young guy. Just when happy, romantic music started, I thought "There's no conflict. It feels like the misdirection before a horror movie." Then blood was everywhere and William Shatner had crazily stabbed the young guy.

There's a little blank spot here, but then I'm at a cabin, with a girl who (apparently) was my girlfriend, and she was infected by some sort of demonic thing called a "Corbon", which caused adrenaline spikes and paranoia, specifically in relation to loved one conspiring. So, she went crazy and thought I was cheating on her, and tried to stab me. When she became sane again, she had no recollection. I called a doctor, and he said he would try to get out here to see what was going on.

Anyway, during this period, she began having longer episodes, closer together. I went outside and called the doctor again, and he said his assistant was there, and that I could ride with her unicycle back to town. There was a twenty-something girl in a light brown coat, with a face like that wolverine chick from X-Men 2 (but she was way hotter). When she began walking towards me, I felt wrong, so I asked the doctor (on the phone) if it was her, and she was wearing a brown coat, but then the girl took out a handful of knives, and threw them at me. I narrowly jumped aside and began getting really scared. I began focusing on my lucidity (which I sort of gained by this point), and focused on hardening my skin. She pulled out two scalpel-like things, and started to throw them. They flew in slow motion, one obviously missing, but the other directed right at me. I reached out and knocked the blade with one finger, not getting cut. The look of surprise on her face was priceless, and I just grinned.

Anyway, there's a few scattered memories here: one of me being able to run down my street, something I can never do properly in dreams; and one of being at a store and things falling over, and me catching them by focusing telekinetically. However, my aim was sort of bad, so while catching one thing, I generally knocked another.

After this, I'm in my street, and a yellow car is shooting down the bend (my house is right on a bend). I decide that it's a good time to practice my ability to manipulate dreams, and step into the road, lowering my shoulder. However, the car swerved off the road, drove onto the other side of the bend, then careened off and ran into a house.

For me, this is one of the strangest dreams I've had. What especially bothers me is my ever-present semi-lucidity. I've had an argument about this, but what I mean by semi-lucidity is that I know the world isn't real, and that it's just there for a short while, and that I can play with it, but it's not a full-blown realization of being dreaming. Perhaps "semi-lucidity" isn't the right word, but that always seems to be my problem.

Anyway, thought you might enjoy some of the strange elements (like batting a knife by the blade with hardened skin on one finger).

And I'll say it for you: TL;DR

This is a great example of dreams going in the direction we expect them too! Your Will Shatner movie was going peacefully until you thought that it must be going to horror!

As far as your lucid level, I know what you are talking about. I'd say about half of my lucids are like this, (the ones worth remembering anyway,) and yeah, semi-lucid isn't quite the right word.

If you are lucid enough to know that you can play around and enjoy you're drema I think you can focus on keeping that much awareness but not worry about gaining any extra perception. Lucids were you don't know you are dreaming on each and every level seem to have more of a life of their own, (generally, at least.) So enjoy the randomness of dreams like this!

If anything, you aren't semi-lucid you are simply very involved in the dream itself. Does that make sense?

It makes sense, but the part that bothers me is simply that I do know the worlds is not real, and I'm playing with it, but I wouldn't call myself lucid, per se.

Oh, okay. Well, are you still enjoying yourself and toying around with your dream? If so, it seems alright to me. I know plenty of members who intentionally induce semi-lucids just so it is more freeform.

induce semi-lucids as oppose to lucids? If so, I'd still like to do both.

Of course. Probably your best bet is to increase waking to dream recall. That is, memory from RL transferring into dreams. You do this by increasing dream recall. (That is remembering your dreams in waking life.) And you increase dream recall with dream journal exercises. Mostly, laying in bed after a dream recalling every detail of a dream and recording it.

I've found the better my dream recall, the higher my levels of lucidity.

true, I've found this too.. the only problem is, with school, I can't lie in bed (because I have to promptly kill my alarm clock)

woah that is a wierd dream. haha.
I'm also had a few experiences of "semi-lucidity' or whatever y'all feel like calling it. I could veru much control exactly what i was doing (when usually it's sorta just "hey i got an idea, 'll do it" but when i'm "semi-lucid" i actually go through the thinking process) and only occasionally would i realize it was just a dream and not real, and then quickly forget so right after.

      Have a nice day! =]

that's what's been happening to me a lot; I think part of it for me is that less sleep means less time to become fully lucid, so I'm still in the slightly early sleep cycles and never really make the jump (especially since my body is pretty tired, so it doesn't want to become conscious). However, I do agree with the opinion bandied about in this thread that practicing your dream recall helps. Not sure why, but it worked great for me during the summer.

Yes, I plan on trying that. I tried over the summer, but it was journal on my computer so i'd often forget. Now that i've started school i don't think i'll have a chance really, but over our first week- or two-week-long break i'll get an actual notebook and begin that routine. I hope that's enough time for improvement, if not there's always summer. =]
The whole REM cycle thing still confuses me, lol. I need to remember to look that up sometime (for now though i need to continue my homework. =[ *sigh*).

      Have a nice day! =]

Cool dream. I love doing superhero type things in my dreams, and making your skin turn into hard as rock is a good way to avoid getting stabbed and feeling pain. I know what your saying about that control in your dreams because you just know there dreams, like there is no concequences to what you do, you just know whats going to happen. Once without even becoming lucid I picked up a racoon with telekinesis that was going to attack my friend, and pulled it towards me and pulled a sword out of my wrist and sliced it in half. It feels awesome.

woah nice one! I had a dream last night that was.. R rated. Twice. I also had telekinesis. It was like a "best of dreams" collage.
