So sometimes in the mornings, I'm having a really good dream, and i start waking up but i don't want to leave the dream. So i enter this weird state were it feels like i'm dreaming, but i sort of feel like i'm awake as well, and i finish the dream to my liking.
Would this be considered an LD, or not?
It confuses me.
are you aware that your dreaming when your in these dreams?
I was aware i was dreaming, but yet it felt like i was asleep and awake at the same time. it didn't feel like my other LDs
I used to have this a lot when I was a kid.

If you were absolutely sure that you were dreaming, I would count it as lucid.
I think this is clearly just trying to find a suitable definition of a what a lucid dream is. I have had dreams where I am slightly aware that I am in a pleasant dream and I make an unconscious attempt to stay within that dream.
I dont know if that is considered a lucid dream or not but to me it doesnt feel the same as have a full on lucid dream. When I am truly lucid it is an entirely different feeling than if I am just trying to maintain a dream without any sort of conscious control or even awareness. Either way it is an interaction with you dream world and I believe it is significant and valuable. I guess it really depends on how you personally feel about it.

Did it feel like you had 4 eyelids? Then it wasn't a lucid dream. It happened to me a lot (before I got this awful insomnia).
I had a dream or two in the morning where my thoughts got vivid and I was asleep for a moment, had a dream, then woke up and it became a thought again.
The same exact thing happened to me this morning. I was going to even ask that question before I saw this thread.

It wouldn't be considered a dream because you are not technically in REM. It is almost like you are half awake half asleep; all your senses are half dream half real. I believe this is a lucid hypnagogic state because your mind is rational from just waking up but your body is suitable for sleep.
I think of it as a dream before SP kicks in, because I was in this state for about 20 mins, when I felt SP kick in and transform it into a real dream.

don't call it lucid. It was more of a day dream. Just wait and when you get real lucidity this will feel silly. I know, had a big back-and-forth with a friend when this happened to me before my first lucid. Did it seem like you could kind of feel your real body being in your bed? because typically when you LD you will feel a total separation of your dream body and real body.
Actually, I have had enough lucid dreams to recognize that it is definately lucid. Not to sound rude, but I have had this type of experience at least 3 or 4 times, so I think I'd know if I was dreaming or not. And, at least in my experiences, I couldn't feel my real body at all, but could see and feel everything in the dream perfectly.
I think what Xedan is saying is that if you have ever had a proper lucid dream (I recommend WILD, my DILDs are always a little iffy) you'll realize that experiences like this are like pretty low grade. Like a 5 center coin compared to a 20 dollar bill.Quote:

yea. I was saying that it would be a bad idea to think this is the most lucid dreaming has to offer, as it is barely the beginning. And if you're anything like me, your first realy good lucid should come soon after this.
which is true, i have had lucid dreams with a lot better experiences than this. But one of things my other lucids don't have is ultimate control, which hopefully isn't permanent.
