Just have to say "How does the brain do it!?"
I have been an LD'er for years. For about 1 year now I have been experimenting with them since finding this site. Normally in my dreams, if I become Lucid its because I suddenly just realise or its because the dream starts and I am instantly lucid. In a recent dream, I was in a room and I looked around and everything was crystal clear. I realised I was dreaming. I actually said to myself "I cant believe I am actually lying in bed now and my brain is simulating all of this scenery." Imagine how surreal it is to actually say that and ABSOLUTELY mean it and know it. Until you say that in your dream, and you are really lucid, you will never fully appreciate what it is like to be aware that you are dreaming. The possibilities are endless. Controlling those possibilites however, is a skill.

I'm the same way.
And yes...many, many times I have just stopped and stood still in my lucids to really examine everything and appreciate how real it all was. I've climbed out my bedroom window and for some reason there was sand...everyhwere...I knelt down in the sand, picked it up and let it blow through my fingers. I remember thinking "I can't believe this isn't real". I just layed there, basking in the warm sun. It's usually the little things like this that make me appreciate my lucids so much. Just thinking about it makes me smile. :)
