Only remember fragments. So frustrating.

I had a lucid dream tonight. I don't remember how I became lucid, but I remember I was glad, and decided to test things I've read here.

I remember the first thing I did was to check my hands. They were totally deformed and wobbling. Some with 3 fingers, some with 5. Then I did the pinch your nose and breath-test. I could breath.

Then I tried to use a light switch. The light stwitch didn't look like any light switch I have in my house. It worked, but with some delay.

Then I remembered the Task of the Month, trying to master pyrokinesis, but I failed to set a car one fire.

I remembered to have read that if you ask a DC if you are dreaming, they will say "Yes", so I asked some. They all said "No".

I looked at myself in a mirror, and I looked like me, but I was wearing old-fasion pilot clothes.

I tried to levitate, but couldn't do it, no matter how much I tried. I could fly, though, but only downhill.

That's all I remember, but I KNOW it was more, but that I have forgotten. I remember thinking: "Wow, this lucid must have lasted more than 20 minutes now!"

I had several other dreams later that night (this was early, I believe).

Have you been dream journaling? That's the most important part.

And how have you been approaching remembering your dreams? Have you been taking the "And then what happened?" approach? By that I mean, have you been trying to figure out the chronological order of the dream? Cause, then effect? If so, attempt to go reverse chronological. Effect, then cause. Our dreams don't play out logically, and thus we shouldn't attempt to approach them as such.

Attempt to remember your dreams by asking yourself "What happened before that? And then that?" Did a school blow up? Effect. What caused the school to blow up? Bomb. Cause.

Ask yourself "How did I get here?" not "Where was I going?"

I usually remember my dreams very well. The same night I had this dream, I remembered 4 others (non-lucid). I think I normally use the cause-effect way.
This was the first dream, so that's maybe why I don't remember it that well. I will try this effect-cause tactic next time. Thanks.

Just remember to have a checklist that you can refer to in order to help you remembe rdreams. Also, dream journaling is an oneironauts best friend and you should be writing every dream you have in one. Dream Views has a great section in which you can create your own DJ. You can also read other DJs for inspiration. This was just a small key point thing but I recommend you click the link and read the tutorial for a full sense of understanding on the subject.

Absolutely!

Every detail is critical to boosting recall. You won't remember all your dreams, all the time, right off the get go. Start with all the details you can and build off that and your recall with improve dramatically.

Why not keep an on-site journal to record your progress? :D

Allrighty. Just downloaded the DreamJournal thingy, and have written down the last 4 nights. I'm also saving them in the Waking Journal on this forum in case my PC crash. Will transfer it to the Dream Journal now, so it gets public.
