Yep...perfectly normal. It's a result of sleep paralysis. Sometimes I feel them stronger before I enter an LD, sometimes very faint, and sometimes not at all. They are usually accompanied by a loud humming in my ears as well.
Yeah...i've had that plenty of times...I always get the vibrations and then I'm in my bed still dreaming but with the paralysis too...it's kinda fready
The vibrations scare the hell out of me, but everytime it happens I become lucid.
In the two solid attempts I have made for a WILD I was able to make it just past this state and then I either lost my awareness or was unable to go all the way to the dream world. The first time I was very surprised, the ringing/buzz in my ears was so overwhelming, loud, and unexpected, but the tactile sensation was amazing and I simply loved it! I can't wait to make it all the way to a LD, but getting to this stage is very encouraging. For me it was like finding a little gemstone on the way.
Congrats wakedown, sounds like you are on your way, it took me months to get that far!
Hey, I like your newspaper clipping!
I didn't even realize what I had done until I asked my roommate about it. Up to that point I had been trying to plant the suggestion of lucidity by repeating the phrase,” I will have a lucid dream tonight" as I went bed and doing RC's in the day time. I woke up in the middle of the night and so started back at it (WBTB and WILD I realized after the conversation and some readings here). The 2nd time (last Thursday morning), I kept hitting a wall right after the vibrations. I made it there twice, but my eyes would start to open (I now sleep with a black t-shirt over my face) or I would be distracted a noise (I will be picking up some earplugs next time I am at the store). At one point I even had a false FA, I should have known that I never remember to do RCs when I am asleep, heh.
The next night as went to bed I was able to get into the same state of relaxation and breathing, but it was taking too long to get anywhere so I had to give up in favor of more time for sleep.
Last night (after reading tutorials for a few hours) I set three alarms at rather spaced intervals (tonight I am going to try shorter ones, so maybe I can interrupt a rem stage), but every attempt I made ended with subconscious sleep before any physical sensations came. I did have one, less than vivid dream last night. Again I've still not trained myself to do RC's, so I just played along, ignorant of my state of mind. In the dream I was playing cards (a game of War) with a child. The dream was rather dull, but if I had asked myself how I got there I figure I would have realized what was going on. As a result I have started to work at this too.
My recent difficulties seem to come from excitement at being close to a LD. My heart rate will rise, and before I know it I am back where I started. I'm planning on concentrating on a daydream if I get near tonight.
On another note, I hid a DV business card in the fridge for my roommate, hopefully it will catch him off guard...hehe.
I've noticed two types of vibrations.. a slow mild one, that usually means you'll fall asleep and not go lucid and a fast violent one that goes from upper back to toes, that i've always gone lucid from.
dunno if that helps
I don't know why but I actually enjoy the vibrations. It just feels awesome.
Oh i get vibes too, like some high end frequency running through me, i mentioned this in a thread elsewhere here. I never thought of SP, wow!
Unfortunately, the church doesn't approve of necromancy, so they've sent these epic nuns to lock this thread :(
