Lucid Nightmares, Invincible DC's.

This is the third occasion where I have encountered this. As I was lying in bed I WILDed, something I seem to do naturally without trying, and drifted off into lucidity. This last occasion was quite odd to be sure. I was very lucid and I even convinced a DC that he was dreaming too. (A friend of mine, I wonder if it was him or a DC).

Anyways, the point is halfway through my lucid's they have seemed to be taking a bad turn. The sky turns dark, I hear screaming in the background. My friend is crying for help. Me, being lucid on all these occasions think to myself, oh, I'll just beat the shit out of whatever is hurting my friend.

On all three occasions I have met these dark creatures. Sometimes they take the form of men, sometimes they take the form of demons or monsters. Every time, even though I know they can't hurt me and I should be able to destroy them easily, it's my dream...I can't. They don't die no matter what I do and I end up waking up afterward to escape them.

What the hell is going on? Anyone experience this? Is this some problem in my waking life I need to settle?

Since most everything in dreams require you to believe you can do stuff, you might want to find some magic sword or something that you believe will kill the demon things. Like the Master Sword or something.
I can't think of any symbolism that these things could have that relates to real life. Sorry.

I had a LD once. Well, I say "lucid" solely for the fact that I knew it was a dream. I had no powers at all. Flying, gone. Firing off blasts of plasma, gone. Conjuring up guns, gone. Invincibility, gone. And I ended up on the run from nightmarish monsters and possessed best friends. It was still pretty fun, though, being a Badass Normal and kicking the shit out of some people I don't like.

Ignore the monsters. If you're lucid, then you must know that they aren't really hurting your friend.
Turn your back on them, and think about something else. Just walk away.

Everything requires your attention to exist. You created the monsters, so instead of trying to fight them, just pretend they don't exist and they won't.

Alternately, try absorbing them/their power. You know you're dreaming, and you realize these DCs are part of your own mind. By stealing and consuming all of their energy, you're actually accepting that part of yourself.

Just an idea.

You're right I should have ignored them, or absorbed them since I guess they are a part of me I must have created... I was just wondering if they could have been created from all the stress in my life. I am going through rough times now. Both me and my girl's cars breaking down, working 12 hour shifts over night, trying to get my rough draft finished so I can send my novel off...

Although I was lucid, could I have still turned my back on my friend? I don't know. Whether I know I'm dreaming or not, that would still be a hard call to make when you can hear a friend screaming. In my defense I was lucid and thought surely nothing can stop me, this is my dream after all.

Yeah next time I'm going to make that BIG ASS pistol appear from Gears of War 2, the one that blows heads up in one shot and see how they deal with that. Yeah, that'll teach em'.

I've had DCs that seemed 'invincible'. While lucid I tried to fight them using magic, summoning lightning to strike them. Not only did the lightning do nothing, but the DCs mimicked my own dream powers and threatened to strike me with lightning! They didn't actually strike me with lightning though, because they knew as the dreamer they couldn't kill me. Instead we made a truce. Since I couldn't defeat them, and they couldn't defeat me, we split up my dream into their territory and my territory.

After waking up I wasn't sure what happened or what went wrong :?

Meeting these strange DCs made me think of creative ways to combat them. By not combating. I decided, while lucid, I would tell the individual DC that this is all a dream! My dream! I would tell the DC that they are a part of my mind, and that they are free to return to my mind.

Most of the time when I deliver the good news to the DCs, they would smile or wave goodbye as they disappeared - I'm assuming that means I ASSIMILATED them!

But even after that, these DCs persisted.

One time I happily ran up to a DC to tell her she was free, because this was all a dream. All the other DCs (who I had liberated) warned me ahead of time that she was a powerful witch. Whatever! I was lucid, I didn't care. How could a dream witch hurt me? But before I could even open my mouth to tell her that this was MY dream and she was MY dream character, she hexes me!

And the next moment I'm on my knees in physical pain, actual pain I could feel. I become dizzy, disorientated. The witch threatens me again, and I feel too sick to be able to do anything. Then I wake up.

One thing that I have found that all of these strange DCs have in common, is that they already know that this is a dream. They know that I'm the dreamer. They can use any dream power that I can use, sometimes better than me! And most of the time I just feel like they are something foreign invading my head. :cheeky:

This makes me believe that these strange DCs are conscious. And you can't just kill them anymore than you can actually die in a dream. So, rather than fighting, I want to out smart them. Corner them. Make them confess who or what they really are. I haven't figured it all out yet. But thats more or less my plan for the next time I meet them.

Interesting. Looks like we all met some DCs who are either immune to our powers or can use them too.

I believe in the Dream World we access a dimension where we can meet other beings that can reside there as well. Perhaps they are conscious entities.

Lol. That's almost definitely not what happens when we dream. Most of the characters I meet are ones I've seen at some point earlier in the day, or week. The things that happen are inspired by things I've seen or thought about. For example, in my last dream, I talked briefly with an obviously jewish man. That's because earlier in the day, I watched "Road to Germany", a Family Guy episode which focused on Nazis (and Jewish people - Mort Goldman in particular).

Sometimes I used to think that the people in dreams were real, and they, even now, are waiting for me to return. Sadly, everything points to that not being true.
It's just REM, dude.

Well you can believe what you want to believe and I'll believe what I believe. And I believe the Dreamworld gives you access to information outside your mind. I know it does because I have experienced it first hand on several occasions. Haven't you ever had a dream where you knew something you didn't know in real life but woke up to discover it was the truth?

It's possible that in these instances, you've come across the information before, but didn't remember it consciously.

The same thing happens to me in my LDs. No matter how hard I try, I can't kill the monsters or killers in my dream. :/

For example, I was trying to escape a police car in which I was locked in with a deformed man who was trying to kill me. The police officer who was driving was laughing hysterically as I tried to escape. All of a sudden, a table was beside me in the car, and a fork was on it. I grabbed it, and was stabbing at the man's brain. He wouldn't die. D:
