Sleep Paralysis (SP) is something that naturally happens to our bodies each night. When we go into REM, your body literally paralyzes itself to keep you from acting out what's going on in your dream. Some people have woken up while still in SP, but I'd say the majority of people have never experienced it. A number of people, especially those who practice WILD, will try to induce SP through various methods, as SP is a sign that your body has practically fallen asleep and the person is a short step away from entering into a dream.
