The Computer Thief and the Grocery Store Zombies

by daddypops on 08-19-2012 at 05:43 PM
I woke up in my bedroom, but there was no usual light coming from my window. I went into the hallway, and noticed that we had a staircase. This was weird, I lived in a single floor home. I went to my brothers room and found that my cousins were there visiting. My brother was not there. "Wanna play football?" Said one of them. I was transported to a football field. There was a crowd and everything, and I was on a team of people I did not know. I made 3 touchdowns and won the game for my team, whoever they were. After the game I was back in my room. I went outside, where I found my computer and desk in the front yard. There were pine trees all around, and all the nearby houses were gone except for one. I sat at the desk and turned on the computer, which was a blank screen. I then noticed a little boy standing there.
"Hi there. What is your mom doing over there?" I said, pointing to an old black lady swinging a golf club.
"Oh, she's just getting ready to rob you." The boy replied. His mother came up to me, holding the club. She told the boy to go home. I looked up at her, and saw her crazed expression on her face.
"You are being robbed. Give me that computer!" She said.
I reached for my crowbar that was on my desk. I stood up and smacked it into her face. "No, this is my computer. I paid good money for it and you didn't earn this." I said.
"Well... I guess you're right. See this? It's my laptop. I hate this old thing, I can't even load a youtube video!" She said, pulling an old Dell laptop from her bag.
"Too bad. Go get a new one with your own money." I then swung my crowbar into her face again. She didn't seem hurt at all. She just walked away, and went back inside her house. After such a strange ordeal, I decided to test if I was dreaming, as I do every day. I plugged my nose and tried to breathe through it, and for the first time, it worked. All of the sudden, clarity snapped into place. All the things around me became instantly real, in such a way that I cannot even describe. I at first wanted to jump up and scream to the world how amazing it was, but I realized that doing this would wake me up. I calmly went back inside to tell the other fake people, when my brother came out.
"Austin," he said, "Can I play the computer now?" This poor figure of my imagination was just as addicted to the computer as he is in real life I thought to myself.
"No, you aren't real. Now go back inside!" I said to him. He simply sighed and said, "Dang it..." and walked away. I was still very excited about being in my first lucid dream. I tried to fly. I jumped into the air, and willed myself forward. It worked. It was like being on a zip-line, but without anything to support you. I was so amazed and happy about it, that I lost my focus, and crashed down into the concrete. The pain I felt was so very real, but did not last long thankfully. I tried many more times, with similar results. I gave up and went inside. My cousin, Josh, came up to me.
"Congratulations on your first lucid dream. How does it feel?" He said to me. Knowing he was not real, I still played along.
"It's awesome! I could do this all night." I replied to him. I decided not to get into a fight about who's real and who isn't. I floated upstairs, and passed a bathroom. I covered my eyes as I passed it. I was afraid that by looking in a mirror I would cause a nightmare. I opened my eyes when I was past it. Curious about what dream tests really worked, I tried some. I covered my mouth and nose again, and breathed. That seemed to work just fine. Then I tested the "look at your hands" technique. I looked down at my hands, and noticed that they were so realistic, that if I did not know any better I would think I was awake. The only flaw was that I was missing two fingers. I tried to summon somebody, so I said out loud, "Bring me my best friend," to nobody in particular. Instantly, my best friend from 8th grade appeared. He was just as real as he was in life.
"Nice weather today isn't it?" He said. I wanted to reply but he disappeared shortly. I flew downstairs and went outside. By then I had been in the dream for a while, almost 15 minutes. I looked at a digital clock, and it made no sense at all. It read "2G:F&Y". I looked away, then back again. This time it said "SCREW YOU". I laughed at this, and with lightning speed, ran down the road heading for a town. I got there in an instant, and entered a Target store. Inside I explored the virtual reality, making short reality checks to ensure I did not lose my lucidity. 5 minutes or so passed and I was growing bored. I decided to try something my cousin Josh would do. I went to the check out, where a bored teen girl was. She obviously was tired of the mundane routine of working at a register. I shouted in her face, "GET EVERYONE OUT OF HERE THERE ARE ZOMBIES ALL OVER THE PLACE!!!".
"Dude... what is your problem?" She replied in a monotone voice. I looked around, noticing that there really were zombies all around me. Much more than I expected. I used superhuman strength and lasers from my hands to defeat the zombies, but more came. "This is so fun..." I thought to myself. I fought more and more zombies until the dream was over.
