    The Search

by DealLaw on 03-28-2011 at 04:43 PM
I am positive that the following dream sequence contained more than I have written below, but for the life of me I cannot recall what those extra tidbits might be. I believe it may have had something to do with the sewer scene, but I am at a loss.

    Sunday, March 27, 2011

The earliest recollection in this dream placed myself, I believe my father, my friend Mike (the dream image of which I am starting to believe may be my DG, given how often he has been showing up lately) and a woman with whom I used to work, Kari, in a sewer, knee-deep in sludge. There was no indication as to why we were in this location, but I got the impression we were searching for someone of something. Kari and I are chatting and I notice movement out of the corner of my eye, from around the other side of a brick pillar. I peek around the pillar and notice some kind of strange, humanoid creature, clearly female and glowing blue. The creature takes off as soon as it sees me and escapes into a large round drainage pipe. For some reason this encounter does not faze any member of my party and this apparently was not the thing for which we were searching.

Next, I am on the back porch of an older, run-down house at night. It is snowing lightly and is pretty chilly outside. Mike and I are having a discussion on the porch and gesturing to the right, beyond the fence in the backyard. On the other side of the fence is the back parking lot of a police station. There is a path that runs through the backyard directly in front of us and up to a gate in the fence leading to the police station grounds. Mike points out a police SUV with a trailer attachment on it (like the ones landscaping trucks pull containing their equipment). A uniformed police officer is moving lawnmowers onto the trailer and Mike comments “They are getting ready to move out for the search.” I ask Mike why they would need lawnmowers for such a search and his answer (which I cannot recall) seems to satisfy me (damn my illogical unconscious mind!).

Down the path in front of the Porch walks Kari, wearing a black winter overcoat and one of those puffy Soviet winter hats one always sees in Cold War-era movies, complete with a red star. I walk down to meet her as she nears the gate leading to the police station and she informs me that she has found exactly what we, and apparently the police, were looking for. It is a serial killer that she mentions by name, which I cannot recall but I think it sounded vaguely Latin.

As Kari informs me of her find, the police officer who was loading lawnmowers onto the trailer approaches, apparently having heard our brief conversation and congratulates Kari on her stupendous find; they will proceed to arrest the individual immediately. I congratulate Kari, but am slightly perturbed that she made the find and not I.

I awake and perform my RC.

    Strip Club

    Thursday, March 24, 2011

My buddy Mike and I enter a bar that I recognize as “Mac’s Two Lounge” in Billerica, MA, a seedy 18-plus strip club. The place looks nothing on the inside like it does in real life. In the dream, it is a narrow, short room, with a small stage (about the size of a restaurant booth table) connected to the wall by a door and has a pole in the middle. The “stage” is surrounded by a red faux leather booth, in which is seated all manner of seedy and unsavory individuals; ash trays are strewn about the booth and there is no dancer on stage.

At the other end of the room is a small bar with four stools in front of it bolted to the floor. A few patrons occupy these stools. The room is filled with cigarette smoke and I remember thinking that it was strange that smoking would be allowed in such an establishment, as Massachusetts has banned smoking in bars and restaurants. I am also concerned that my wife will smell the smoke on my clothes and know that I was at a strip club.

There is nowhere for my friend and I to sit, so we just stand around waiting for something to open up. I tell Mike that this is a weak scene and that we should leave because there are no girls dancing and there is nowhere to sit. As I say the last part, two people who were sitting in the booth at the other end of the room disappear (which triggers no lucidity in me whatsoever) and Mike and I take their seats immediately.

The only thing I remember next is waking up and performing my RC.

    Parking Garage

    Thursday, March 17, 2011

I am in a parking garage. The garage is filled with numerous cars parked between white pillars, just as one would find in any such garage. The ceiling of this garage is incredibly low, to the point where I must duck to move about, as such it is just above the roofs of the parked cars. At one point, the ceiling become so low that I must crawl to move about, bringing on feelings of claustrophobia; there are no cars in this part of the garage.

I find my car in an area of the garage where the ceiling is of a normal height. I get in the driver’s side and am speaking to my best friend Mike, who is sitting in the passenger’s seat. I do not know if he accompanied me to my car or was already there when I got in. As we speak, I see a kid that we went to high school with walk by the car and out the door to the exit stairs, he accompanied by several people that I cannot make out from my vantage point. I turn to Mike, “hey, that was Ted from school.” Mike readily agrees that it was and we exit the car, heading for the exit door.

Upon moving through the doorway, we are in a run-down hallway with white cement walls. Up ahead the hallway narrows considerably and there is sunlight in that direction. As we move forward, Ted and his entourage approach from the direction of the sunlight. They squeeze past us without acknowledging us, nor us them. I remember thinking that Ted’s sister was hot back in the day.

Now I am at the scene of a car accident in which I am not involved. I am standing by off to the side chatting with a police officer while the two drivers involved argue and try to exchange insurance information.

Next thing I remember is waking up and performing an RC.

    The Cave

by DealLaw on 03-17-2011 at 01:36 PM
The following occurred last night as I was attempting a visual MILD. The fact that the dream world reacted to my commands and thoughts, at least partially, is an encouraging sign for me; it is the first time I have exercised any measure of control in my dreams. Additionally, the fact that my logic center kicked in in this dream to recognize a DS is another encouraging fact. I found the visions that permeated the transition from the dream to the waking world, and then stayed with me in the waking world for a short time, to be disconcerting but not frightening in any way. Maybe a false awakening?

    Wednesday, March 16, 2011

I enter a cave that is lit by the daylight pouring through the gaping opening. The walls appear reddish, as if maybe made partially of clay. I have entered the cave with a group of children; feels like I am leading a field trip. On the walls of the cave is writing that appears to have been smeared on with some sort of green substance, maybe paint?

Directly ahead, the path in the cave splits in two; one path, the one to the right, continues on straight ahead and the one to the left continues downward. My “class” stays to the right, on the straight path and I can hear their playful yells back and forth as they all appear to be having a good time. I begin to walk down the downward sloping path to the left. A few feet down the grade I kneel down for some reason, as if to tie my shoe. I suddenly think to myself “thank God for that sunlight. This cave would be pretty damn spooky if it were nighttime outside.” As I think that, the light from the cave’s mouth vanishes and I am cast in darkness and overcome with a feeling of dread.

I tilt my head up and suddenly realize “I am dreaming. There is no way the light would just vanish at the very thought of it in the middle of the day were I awake.” I stand up and run my hand along the wall to my left (I am facing back the way I came, up the path towards the cave’s mouth). I can feel the moisture of the cave’s wall on my fingertips. I still hear my “class” yelling and playing on the path above me and to me left. I no longer feel any fear whatsoever, though I must admit that the echoing sound of children playing in a damp cave completely bathed in darkness is a bit creepy.

I say aloud “I have no class and those children do not exist.” The sounds of the children fade away into a background humming that won’t seem to stop. I then state, forcefully “illuminate!” Nothing happens. This time I yell “Light damnit!” The cave is not illuminated, but I can now somehow see only the wall to my left and just make out the green markings.

The humming noise has grown increasingly louder and I realize that it is coming from the humidifier in my bedroom in the waking world. I am once again bathed in complete blackness and I yell aloud “No! Keep it together! Stay in this dream!” But the world has gone completely black and the sound of the humidifier has grown louder. I no longer feel like I am standing anywhere, let alone a cave. I only see complete blackness. Before my eyes I do see visions of luminescent skeletons dancing about and then strange faces that I cannot identify.

My eyes shoot open and I am lying in my bed. The visions of the faces and skeletons are still in my line of sight. I shut my eyes quickly, the visions are still there, and re-open them, they are gone. I roll over on my back and perform my RC, confirming that I am now awake.

I only remember being surrounded by blackness and then stating "I am dreaming." I then became lucid, but immediately awaken.
