    About sallybrarian
    LD Count:
My husband kept talking about lucid dreaming and how he wanted to lucid dream back in March 2014. All this listening on my part ended up dropping me into a dream in which I immediately knew I was dreaming and I decided to fly and do some other stuff that was really cool and kind of cathartic.

I think the main purpose of LD for me is to get to know myself better: why are these people and things in my dreams? What do they represent? How to I address them? Can I grow as a person through my dream state? I find that often in waking life I let the forces of life tug at me and then I go along with it instead of questioning why I do these things or why I feel a certain way.

When not doing dream practice I work, knit and crochet, play with my cats, volunteer at a shelter, read, cook vegan food, and watch anime/read manga.

Great to see you posting, Sally! I'm vegan too, and I've become lucid quite a few times after realising that I've just eaten some non-vegan dream food. :P Your idea to summon a real-life taro...

Keep in mind that this is a Lucid Dreaming forum, so the main ontopic forums are for dreaming and sleep. However I think it would be best suited as a subforum like you also mentioned.

Reality check fails, but I'm lucid anyway :)

by sallybrarian on 07-31-2015 at 01:56 PM
I'm in upstate NY with ThreeCat in a cabin. We have sheep and I want to wander with them as they graze. I think of the cats inside though, and decide we can just go out for a walk for the day. We go outside and around the back where it looks like the lumber yard of Lowes. People in a pickup truck are blasting their bad country music and we wander off. Suddenly we are inside of a Perkins-style restaurant with a buffet line of pies. ThreeCat orders a piece and gobbles it up. I'm aghast that he didn't ask if it's vegan. I ask him how he knows it's vegan and he responds “it is.” I ask the girl on the other side of the buffet line what they substitute the butter with and she says “nothing.” I tell ThreeCat this is a dream and he says “no it isn't.” I think back and wonder aloud how I got from the farm to here and he can't give me a good response. I check text several times (don't know what it says), but it doesn't seem to change. I resolve that this is just a dream and leave dream ThreeCat behind. I find someone and ask if they know where The Fool (from tarot) is? I'm directed to Doug's apartment, except the location is actually Billy's. I go inside and Sh_ is sitting on the couch. They introduce him as Charles and that he is The Fool. I ask him if I may ask him a question. He responds there needs to be an exchange and implies somehow that it must be sexual. I sit in his lap and give him a handjob through his tshirt. I then end up having oral sex with RL in a side 69 position, but she corrects my technique. I definitely lose lucidity and am unable to come back to the dream to ask the question that I want

Putting my clothes on makes me lucid!!

I think that I'm going to dance lessons but it ends up being bowling lessons. I'm in the bowling alley and the instructor is teaching a bunch of little kids/tweens. For some reason I think that I'm 15 or 17. He shows them some cool tricks like tossing the bowling ball and it lands a level down, bounces, and puts itself away in the bowling rack. He is passing out lessons and asks me if I've done the last one. I point out that I missed the first two classes and this is my first time.

It's later and I'm in a parking lot with a Subway. I order something and begin to eat it. It's like a garlic bread cheese sandwich. I realize part way through that there is cheese and that's why it's difficult to eat. I try to tear away the pieces without cheese and can feel the roof of my mouth becoming raw from the toast texture. I toss it out.

I go back out into the lot and am walking up a really steep hill. I run into Cid and someone else who are taking up a lot of the street. She tries to get me to come along, but I tell her I'm going to lessons. I'm getting pretty tired and hot (I recall seeing the sweat glistening on my left arm) and end up stripping in a way. I'm walking around with my bra undone and my shirt pulled up over my chest, but not actually taking it off.

I get to the bowling alley and try to change back. I'm wearing a front clasp bra and part of the clasp is broken so it won't hold. I'm messing with my longish shorts and realize a pair of dirty underwear is hanging outside of each leg and also some dress shirt sleeves are also hanging out. I'm quite frustrated and a cute, short haired blond girl seems interested in helping me. I suddenly realize that all of this inability to do what I'm trying to do is because this is a dream! I don't think I even RC. I look at the blonde and tell her “I'm dreaming!” I consider getting some sexy time in with her and start to move as if do engage, but then decide that it's a distraction and I should do other things in the dream. Not all of the dream is easy to remember. I know that several times I am rubbing my hands together and either thinking or saying “this is a dream.”

I end up leaving and go into a building where maybe it's a nice corporate glassed cafeteria? It makes me think of what Google headquarters would be, really clean and sparse. I encounter a guy, but don't remember what it's like. I get up to a board room area where people are holding a meeting. I sit at a chair. During my wake back to bed I reminded myself I wanted to help other people. I'm still focusing on “this is a dream” in my mind. I end up doing a reality check at the table. People's names are on plaques and when I look at them and look away they change. Something like “dwight” changes into just “ight.” There are maybe 10-12 people at the table all dressed in business clothes. I say “excuse me” and something along the lines of “can I help anyone?”

The lights are dimmed and the people are turned to me. A Chinese woman (similar to the ones that visited last week) says yes, and she puts on a video on the tv screen. She wants me to watch it. I can tell that if I watch for too long I will be sucked into it so I interrupt the video by turning to her and saying “thank you for showing me that.” Someone else also wants my help, but I can't remember what that was. I was aware that this dream was getting long and in addition to “I'm dreaming” and hand rubbing I was also reminding myself to remember the dream itself.

After the board room I'm more in an apartment/home environment with Threecat. I'm excited to see him and tell him I'm dreaming! He looks a little disbelieving and I go on to say “you've actually woken up for work already, your real self isn't sleeping. You're dream Threecat.” He continues to act like he's awake. I think I ask him also how I can help him. He's thirsty and wants his glass water bottle filled up so I go to the sink and fill it and return it to him. I can't remember what else we talked about, but we talked more. At some point he's pushing on me and I feel agitation well up and I'm worried that the dream will dissolve. I think that maybe it's him in real life or the cat physically disturbing me. I get him to stop, I think I hug him and the dream doesn't dissolve. Shortly after this I wake up. It was so long I couldn't remember all the parts.

During my wake back to bed I read The Tibetan Yogas of Dream and Sleep for 20 minutes, practiced MILD, set the intention to help people, and rubbed my hands together in real life to focus on that sensation and remind myself to do that in my dream. My wake back to bed was at 5 hours into sleep.

    Car battery runs out

by sallybrarian on 05-28-2015 at 03:07 AM
I'm driving on a highway with a lot of curves and exit ramps. I don't seem to know where I'm going and I'm driving so fast I can't really comprehend everything I'm passing. Then I'm driving out in the country near where we turn to go to my mother in law's house. The car's battery runs out and the car just slows down and splutters to a halt on the side of the road. I have our huge yellow flashlight we save for emergencies with me and am walking along the road; it's nighttime. Some old man with gray hair and a beard is out walking his dog. He tries to get me to make out with him and I decline. I say that I'm sick and cough for good measure. He asks me why I'm out and I say the car battery died. I turn back to the car and it is Barbie car-sized. I think I insert some toy sized batteries in it and put my right hand on top rolling the Prius back and forth like I'm playing in a sandbox.

    scooting the wrong way

by sallybrarian on 05-19-2015 at 03:33 AM
A lot of dream snippets from this morning:
I'm on my scooter and get on a single lane highway by crossing a grassy median. I start to get up to speed when I realize that I'm driving into oncoming traffic! I make a u-turn and get back to the other lane across the median. Again, as I'm starting to go faster I realize I'm against traffic flow. I feel frustrated and anxious, but don't think to RC.
Maybe I'm on a bicycle? S and I are in woods/jungle on a dirt trail. We end up going to a rickety old wooden house to lodge for the night. It's an open floorplan and many other people are staying in the same house. We have a bed in the middle of the floor and it's odd to be sharing this space with so many other people. It ends up costing us around $500 and I comment that it's pretty pricey for what we are getting!
I'm at R's helping him with something. I'm on the floor somehow mashed between a coffee table and a wall with barely any room to move. A comes in and I'm relieved that I'm obviously nowhere near R so she won't think that I'm being too close to him. I didn't wake to record this so most of this dream memory is gone.

Scuba diving in a library, then sexy woman, with a lucid dream of subways and HBO Girls

by sallybrarian on 05-17-2015 at 01:38 PM
I'm going scuba diving with some people from a recent Hawaii retreat and we descend into a library that has been flooded with water. I know that one knowledgeable diver is in the group (Don). As I go down there is a hammerhead shark that comes up to me and puts his mouth on my crossed arms and presses down as if to bite. I stay still and this goes on for a little bit until he leaves. I felt for sure he would bite my entire midsection out! I come to the surface to regroup with my scuba buddies. I ask if anyone knows scuba hand signals and Karen makes some hand motions that are not really signals at all.
Then I am in a large building with which fluorescent lights. I think I'm trying to get a threesome going with a blonde girl and my husband, but something keeps interrupting us. I'm semi-lucid, but not quite in this dream. As interruptions pop up I think "If this were a dream this is what I'd do" and then do them. For example a man keeps walking over to talk to me as I'm trying to disrobe this woman and I tell him "There is a woman crying in the hallway over there" and give him eyes that say "she needs your help." He wanders back over saying he can't find her and I specify "She's there, go back and then make a left." I have the woman to myself now and start to touch her only to realize my physical body in bed is moving around. I realize I'm dreaming and go back to sleep, but don't return to this fantasy.
I'm on a subway or tram that is very reminiscent of the Atlanta airport tram except there are bench seats to sit on. I'm looking out the window for my next stop. I say something like “I'm getting off at my next stop” in the car full of people. What I think is the next stop turns out not to be a stop at all. I say something like “I thought there was a stop here, did they pass it?” to which the dream man next to me says “maybe you're dreaming.” I look down at my silicone bracelet and instead of the square box pattern there is the picture of a ladybug instead. Excitedly I say “I AM dreaming!” as I shake the man's right shoulder. Then I remember there were digital messages across the tram's message board that were weird and I hadn't been paying attention to like “It's all cool. It's good.” I remember in my dreams I want to ask people who they are and what they represent, but as I look around the subway car I get the impression they are not important. In hindsight I should have tried anyway. Throughout the rest of the dream I remind myself in my head “I'm DREAMING!”
I think the man asks me what I'm going to do now that I'm dreaming. I say I want to get off at a stop I was meaning to. It's actually a place I had just had a non-lucid dream just a little bit earlier than this one. Something-ville. I can't remember the name. It's a swampy/watery town and there is a tiny boardwalk across swamp in which to get to a wooden planked city hall. I get off with another girl from the subway. We go into a house together that she is moving into. She ends up being Shoshanna from HBO Girls and Hannah and Adam are in there as well. We are in a dimly lit parlor/dining room and I am eating a huge plate of something delicious like vegan french toast. I don't know if that's what this is, but I'm shoveling it into my face. Shoshanna is talking about how she's gotten furniture from people for her apartment and that she is going to invite a lot of high school friends over and cook brunch for them. For some reason Adam gets upset and wanders into the living room in which there is a beautiful nude woman who he starts to make out with. This distresses Shoshanna and she goes into the kitchen. When he comes back over he says he just needed to do that to work out his emotions and Hannah says she does things to get back to the center of attention when she feels upset.
