    Night Sky

by Sloth Face on 06-09-2014 at 02:08 PM
My wife and I were outside looking at the night sky. I was bewildered by the amount of visible stars, we almost didn't need our telescope at that point. I squinted my eyes at a very bright one, only to find out that this star was actually the planet Saturn. It was very large and I could easily make out its characteristic rings. Further off, towards the east, I was able to see a very bright swirling pattern of stars - a galaxy! It was the brightest thing in the sky. My wife and I were astonished. If we looked closely enough, we could even see it gradually spinning. It was simply remarkable.

    Real emotion - amplified.

by Sloth Face on 09-17-2013 at 04:28 PM
I am out to dinner with my wife. We are at a very nice restaurant and we are enjoying ourselves. Writing this now, I have lost a lot of the details of my dream, yet I remember what was so interesting about this particular dream. After paying our bill, we go outside and I find that our car has been towed. The anger consumed me, I have been in this position twice in my life and it is a very unpleasant thing to experience. I frantically run around the building to see if I simply forgot where we parked (another thing that has happened to me in waking life), yet the car is nowhere to be found. The emotions are overwhelming, I start to shake. Having to deal with the car being towed after such a nice meal is criminal. I feel the anger pass, slowly, then I wake.

    Mushrooms - AGAIN.

by Sloth Face on 05-19-2013 at 11:55 PM
A very common dream sign of mine is the mushroom. Whether it is growing in an unusual quantity or off the branches of trees like leaves, I must learn to recognize this oddity as a dream sign inside the dream. Last night I dreamed that I was walking on the side of a river, the place looks familiar but is a little different. I think I have visited this spot previously in another dream. It was looking at the various types of mushrooms growing there, all of them not really out of the ordinary. Then I come across a little patch of mushrooms growing out of the fork of a tree. They were the most vibrant shade of red I have ever seen and gave off a slight glow. Looking closer at them, I see that there are small crystals growing on the caps and are giving off a low, barely audible, humming sound. As I sat there looking at these mushrooms, I hear a growl beyond the tree line. Suddenly, a troll-like creature bursts from the undergrowth and starts charging towards me. I fall backwards, abruptly waking up with a dull ache in my head.

Maybe they were the troll's special prize and I was encroaching upon his territory? I cannot make any sense out of it apart from that. What does this dream tell me? I don't think I will ever know, but that isn't too bad of a thing.

    Hit the snooze

by Sloth Face on 05-17-2013 at 01:07 PM
Every morning, I attempt to get up out of bed after my alarm has gone off the first time. I hit the snooze, fall back to sleep, then wake up about half an hour later. During this ritualistic awakening, I usually have some very vivid and bizarre dreams. (Must be some credibility to the WBTB method) My wife and I are walking down a road that is surrounded by trees on both sides. Every now and then, a fence emerges from the woods and we are able to make out the shape of someone's property. Most of it is very overgrown, but we come across a fenced-in field that has mushrooms growing all over the place. This should have triggered a LD because I have numerous dreams where the mushroom is a signal flare to dreaming. These were also not any ordinary mushrooms as they were growing out of absolutely everything and were a lot larger than normal. We continue on down our journey - the snooze alarm goes off and I hit it again.

    ~

I am in an older country style house, very rustic furniture without being "YEE HAW" Texan trash. My boss is there watching television in her room. We are talking about some of the conversational errors that I have made in the past and laugh it off. Sometimes I feel like I am a bumbling idiot when I am trying to sound professional. This has to do with this. I am assuming it means to not take things so seriously around here, because as serious as she can seem, she is probably not so out of touch with reality like I make my bosses out to be. The conversation continues and we start talking about Italians for some reason. At this point I think she might have made a move at me, which is very odd and I cannot even remember it because it would be so far beyond the point of reason that my head would melt into nothingness if such a thing did happen. She mentions something about offering payment, which I refuse, then politely I leave the room.

In the next room, there is my entire family gathered around a very small piano. The piano only has about twenty keys, and they are looking into the back part where the strings are exposed. Jenny points to a very small gecko that is being chased by what looks like a larger lizard with a snake head. The lizard catches the gecko in its mouth, then slowly starts to eat it. The sound of the piano strings being plucked by their little claws is maddening. I look away, out to the window, and realize that the field we saw earlier is the property we are on.

I hate missing the chance to LD. I know that understanding the dream signs and being able to notice things that are so incomprehensibly strange are crucial to learning the skill, but I am making slow progress. I have been trying to have a lucid dream for the past several months, and now that school is coming to an end for the summer, I feel like I will be able to give it the practice it takes to have them.

From a Field to a River

by Sloth Face on 04-07-2012 at 01:02 PM
My wife and I were looking out our back window at a large grassy field. The weather looked nice and we noticed a strange man off in the distance. He was a large, older man, looking happy and was trying to skip through very dense grass. It began raining and soon the water was flooding the field. The man was soon swimming through a rough, open expanse of choppy water. We started laughing at how crazy this all was.

A boat approached and we noticed several people on board. One of them was Anthony Bourdain. From that point the dream turned into an episode of No Reservations, doing a special from the Amazon river. They were all drinking and spewing forth the pseudo-philosophical dribble that they normally fill each episode with. The beverages they were drinking were laced with some sort of hallucinogenic, Bourdain relishing every sip.
