    A Cold Summer Day

by Speesh on 08-05-2010 at 06:48 PM
    Lucid: Not at all
    Dream Aids: None
    Vividness: Half realistic

I was walking around an architecturally distorted University of Vermont campus on what should have been a hot summer day, but as it turns out the forecast had it slated to snow. A friend of mine was holding a party to celebrate the event. I wasn't initially interested, but while walking through campus I saw that apparently it was a big deal and tons of people were going there. It almost had the vibe of zombies shuffling towards an unknown destination.

Walking down there was a lot of fun. Everyone was ecstatic at the surprising snow, big snowball fights and wrestling matches would break out left and right, many of which I was a part of.

Upon getting to the house there was a random change of setting. It became more of a family reunion type of thing, with the party going on in the background. As often happens at our family reunions, we played poker. But instead of keeping the betting limit down low, this turned into high stakes gambling.

On the first hand I was dealt a full house and could hardly contain my excitement. The other two highest hands were a two pair and three of a kind. I was about to win a lot of money when I saw someone had taken my cards and started shuffling already. They thought I had shown already. Following that event I became very likely angrier than I've ever been in a dream. I completely lost it.

To make matters worse I realized that I had work that day, and was already half an hour late. I left the house in a terrible mood and walked the other way. While walking away the dream fades.

    Fragments: 8.4.2010

by Speesh on 08-04-2010 at 06:47 PM
    Lucid: Nope
    Dream Aids: Calea Zacatechichi, Melatonin
    Vividness: Not great

For dream memories that are just too vague, I think I'll keep them in one entry per night.

Fragment 1: I vaguely remember being at work and serving this obnoxious lady. Also one of my roommates was working there with me even though in waking life he works elsewhere.

Fragment 2: I was down south at home and found out that Frank Zappa was giving three concerts on the East Coast. I guess apparently he had come back from the dead to play a few shows. I was bummed because I couldn't make it to any of them.

    Flooding and Snakes

by Speesh on 08-04-2010 at 06:33 PM
    Lucid: Nope

    Vividness: Not great

I tried Calea for the third time. The first two times all it really did was keep me awake too long. Nothing happened to my dreams. This time was no different. Guess its just not my thing. Maybe I'll give it one more try in the future with a larger dose, but I doubt I'll buy it again.

I was in a wooded area by a large river, a very scenic spot. It didn't stay that way for long though. Clouds quickly rolled over and the sky split open with rain. The river quickly started to flood. I was with a random DC that I don't really remember who pointed out a multitude of snakes coming out of the lake. None of them looked the same either. They had really cool colorful patterns on them, and some of them were massive.

We ran away up towards a nearby wooden lodge to take cover in. I went up to the roof on a third floor to watch the elevating water level. There were a bunch of other people out there bungee jumping. It looked like a lot of fun so I joined them. By the time we were finished the sun was back out again, and there was a few feet of water on the ground level. I took out a rubber raft and explored the post-flood river. For some reason there were tons of exotic animals there like zebras and elephants. The dream ended shortly thereafter though.

    A Strange Drive

by Speesh on 08-03-2010 at 07:51 PM
    Lucid: Nope
    Dream Aids: None
    Vividness: Not very

Another fragment unfortunately, but I'll take whatever I can get. I was driving up Main Street in my car at night, when all of a sudden after making a wrong turn it was daylight and I was in a completely exotic area. It almost looked like a walking tour of the jungle or something.

After reaching the top a bunch of extended family members I haven't seen in a while were there waiting for me. We started chatting about something but I can't remember what exactly, the memory fades after that.

It seems that in addition to seeing people I don't see very often in dreams, there are some contextual dreamsigns as well. The first highlight in this dream has to do with sudden and drastic changes in setting. This happens to me fairly often, I'll be in one setting and suddenly after one minor action will find myself in a completely different one. The other one I can think of right now is minor changes in a familiar setting. Last time I became lucid it was because I was in my own apartment, but all of the furniture was mixed up and put together differently. When something gets created from my memory it seems to come out very inverted.

    Lucid in NYC

by Speesh on 08-03-2010 at 07:31 PM
    Lucid: Hell yeah!
    Dream Aids: None
Vividness: Above average, but could be better

    Dreamsign
    Lucidity

I was in a huge city that I now believe to be a representation of New York, and something about the context rang funny to me. I did a reality check and quickly became lucid. I wish I could remember more about what exactly made me lucid. I think it occurred after a WBTB so its very possible I was just far more aware than usual.

Upon discovering my lucidity I began to ground myself in the dream by taking in my surroundings and feeling whatever I could. I seem to have gotten the hang of calming down and remembering to stabilize in a lucid dream, though my stabilization technique still probably needs some work. I should try the shouting CLARITY trick sometime soon, as this one wasn't incredibly vivid.

There was unfortunately no time for any of that though, as all I was able to do in this lucid was walk down the street a bit stabilizing before a call on my cell phone woke me up. Unfortunate, but I'm still ecstatic at the fact I've had two lucid dreams in a week now. That's not happened to me before.
