Actually, the political media situation sounds a lot like the US, except that here I'm sure it just happens because Americans are, on the whole, not very intelligent.
Well, for what it's worth, Putin's a pretty good president. Sure, the "democracy" in Russia isn't ideal, but the problem is that Russia has been run this way for so long, that radically changing it would be problematic.
Considering how good Putin has been for Russia, other countries can only hope for this kind of benevolent dictatorship.
