de ja vu, but did this really happen?
A lot of times in my dreams I will see a place or be at a place that i feel I have been before. Then, upon waking, I will realize that I have never seen that place before in any of my dreams.
A weird example of this is from a sort-of recent dream I had about being chased by a kidnapper. While I was running, I saw a place I thought I'd seen before.
It was very out of place in the subdivision i was in. Set back a bit from the road, it was a large area of gravel rocks. On it were about four apartment type looking buildings, each about three stories high. They were brightly colored brick, or at least they once were, because they were chipped and fading. Each story had a flowerbox, with beautiful plants in it. each one had a front step, or an open porch. (now, im not racist) There were several black, cafe au lait looking women out there, and lanky black men with instruments and mustaches and smiles. There were some very hospitable white women also. They were all smiling and talking and laughing, and one woman had a huge pot of some sort of stew and was ladling it out. The men were playing a silly little tune, and there was a pregnant lady rubbing her swollen stomach. Not one person wasnt smiling. Kids were palying tag in the gravel.
Thinking about it further, there is no place I'd rather be than that place there. It had a welcoming, family, come-on-in, sit-down-and-have-some-iced-tea kind of air to it. When I ran by, they waved to me and smiled, called out to me, "hey Sugar!". I have a strange recollection of being there before, of dropping in to talk to the people there, of sitting on the front step with them happy folks. =)
What if, in some other lifetime, or dimesion, that really did happen? Is this why I remember it so much?
