Layers and Change in my recurring dream

I'm a newbie to the forum... but I have a dream "situation" that's just too juicy not to talk about with people who are interested in dreams. I don't really know a whole lot about dreams and usually only look up interpretation websites if I have a really interesting dream. But this recurring dream has too many layers to get any input on it from a basic dream interpretation website. So I have a pretty good inclination about all the meanings, but if anyone has any other insight... I'd love to hear it.

I've had a recurring dream for several years now about my maternal grandmother's house. It always takes place in the front living room and/or bedroom of the house. And the upstairs portion of the house is always haunted. I hear foot steps and banging around and stuff. I always associate the ghost with my grandfather (who passed away before my parents had ever even met).

One interesting layer of this is that my mom has had recurring dreams about the same house and in her dreams the attic about the second story of the house (the same part is that is haunted in MY dream) is haunted. I think it's interesting that the haunting has moved down a level with the move down in generations. Another interesting piece to this is that the room that mom slept in when she was growing is the room that I dream to be haunted and is the room directly under the haunting in her dream. And the front living room that I'm in in my dream is the room that I always slept in when we would stay at grandma's house when I was growing up.

I did not start having these dreams until after my grandma was no longer able to live on her own in the house. It has gradually gone into further and further state of disrepair over the last 10-15 years and has been condemned for the last few years. About 6 months ago, my mom and her siblings sold the house with the understanding that it would be torn down.

So night before last, I dreamed about the house again. But it wasn't the same dream. I was in a different room and I was on a cot on the floor in front of the old brick stove that used to be in the house. I was trying to get to sleep but couldn't because I kept expecting to hear the haunting noises that I'm used to. Then my grandmother walked out of a door that, in real life would have been the bathroom, but in my dream was a closet with the water heater. She looked dead and really kind of gory and she popped up from the floor and said, "this house is haunted." Then I woke up. I was disturbed, but not scared and what I found myself thinking (sadly) was "the house probably isn't even there anymore."

I didn't think about it anymore after that. Until later in the day, my mom showed me an email that she got from one of my aunts. The email said that the house was no longer there and that they must have taken it down the day before because she had just been there on Sunday. So, my recurring dream about the house changed the night after the house was torn down.
