Need some advice about Nightmares

So, I always have action packed dreams (Check my latest DJ entry for my epic action packed dreams). I'm realizing now how these are still the nightmares I've had since I was younger, but I view them as awesome. So when I'm being hunted down by secret agents, I always think of it as adventure. But really, all of my dreams are like this, I never seem to have much of anything else, and I think this is self-inflicted, because I used to really want to have adventure dreams, and gradually I started having more and more of them. I also feel like there is a reason behind why I am having these kind of dreams, so I think it's important to confront it in a LD. My problem is, if I do this, and sort out the problem, then I wont be able to have fun adventure dreams, or will I?

It is also a problem when it comes to Lucidity, because in my last LD, I didn't get anything done because I couldn't escape. So my feeling is, it's either really fun non-stop action dreams that may have a hidden problem, but also stop lucidity, OR, Dreams which might be action, might not, with no problem and I'm free to do LD stuff. Annoyingly, I have it stuck in my head that Lucidity without action wont be fun either, because it will be empty.

I'm just really stuck on what to do, any advice will be appreciated, and experienced LDers, can you please tell me about action in LDs for the future?

EDIT: I don't know if this is any use, but I figured I might as well say what the dreams are usually about. Half the time it's a zombie apocalypse or some other end of the world situation, but the majority of these don't have much fighting in, it's just defending or running. The other half is being chased by secret agents, or people who want me captured or killed. They involve a lot of running, fighting, car chases, and people who aren't involved but that are still trying to trap me.

Well In LDs you can DEFINITELY have action packed dreams. Because the dream's what you make it. (Depending on your level of control I guess.) I once fought a Jamaican terrorist with a broken in half pencil as my weapon to stop him from detonating a bomb and destroying the school where I was (yea this was after I became lucid). Pretty sure this is how I got my DC's not run away from me anymore.. BUT anyways, you can definitely have actiony LD's and if all else fails in the LD just think back to one of your fun actiony dreams before and you can just transport yourself to that dreamscene. SO yea, just my two cents.

Thanks! I wasn't really sure on that. So getting rid of the nightmares seems to be the right thing to do. Now I just need to figure out how XD

Well what you could try is calling out to your subconscious and it might respond like, "WHAT?" then just go and find it, right.. AND say, "yo dawg what's up with these dreams, huh?" OR you could portray your subconscious as some omnipotent god, that could be fun too. Either way I say, talk to your subconscious.

speaking of adventures and end of the world dreams, I had a dream this morning about an alien invasion. The mother from Everybody Loves Raymond was screaming from a block of cement on a river of lava to "get out of here!". lol..

My dreams used to be much like yours. They were basically all action packed, and full of destruction. Many of my dreams are still like that, but I also have a lot more mundane, "normal" dreams.
My opinion is that dreams express the state of mind of the dreamer at any given time. There is always a general, overall tint to most of the dreams. Then there are particular dreams focused on specific ideas or emotions. Those tend to be recurring for me. Then there are dreams that come out of nowhere usually connected with something in the past. All of the dreams are connected to waking life reality.
Having said that, my advice would be to accept whatever is happening in the dreams for starters. That will get you to a place where you can operate within the dream, and begin to navigate or change some things. You can also use positive energy and thoughts before bed to alter your dreams. Mantras can help by telling yourself you will have calm, positive dreams.
As for lucid dreams, the best thing you can do, and something I am just getting the hang of, is remaining calm when you become lucid. Establish goals for the lucid if you haven't already, then remember them once you get in the dream. My guess is you will meet a ton of resistance from all the action stuff, but it is necessary to remain at least somewhat relaxed if you want to meet your goals. Otherwise you won't be functional.
Anyway, let me step back here and take a bigger picture look at this.
Your dreams are expressing in hyper-active, violent, dark forms, which can be awesome btw. Being stuck on one setting sucks however, and you want to expand your dream life, which also, can be awesome. Become aware of these kind of emotions during the day, transfer positive focus to the dreams, and use your willpower combined with intention to carry out goals inside the dreams.

This is perfect, everything you said is true. A lot of the time even when i become lucid its just difficult to remember that it isn't real, and that you can change it yourself because it's all in your head. I'll try out the positive thinking thing too, although its kind of just a variation of what i did when i was younger by seeing the funny side. It sorta just stops it being scary. However I guess trying to stay calm would help because then it would counteract the chaos of my dreams.
