Weird recurring zombie attack dream?

As you've read the title, you know the over all topic of my dream. It really throws me off because I'm not one to be afraid of things from old black and white horror movies, but these frighten me just a little bit. Let me get into a little more detail...

In these dreams, which I have had many of them over the course of a few months, these things are not just zombies. It is actual people who take a drug and have a severe reaction causing them to be what seems like a zombie. I guess kind of like the bath salt thing a few years back. It isn't just one person, though. In these dreams, it's like an apocalypse. Hundreds of zombies running around the streets doing their zombie thing, and I am always almost caught. I am always running and barely getting away. Also, no one else is ever that concerned. I'm always freaking out, and I can feel real fear the whole time. But everyone else is going about their daily life with an "It'll pass" kind of attitude.

As I said before, I've had multiple dreams like this, but I must mention that the details are never the same. There is always zombies, I am always with someone I care about, but it's never the same. In one, I was at my school, and all of a sudden these things appeared, chasing my friends and I, but my friends treated it like a game while I was legitimately scared. Another, I was out to dinner with my family we were chased into hiding by a surprisingly large group, but after a while they returned to their dinner and I stayed in my hiding spot. They even tried coaxing me out, but I was too terrified to move. Just last night I had one where my father took the drug, but I woke up before he "changed." I was losing my mind, horrified at what he was about to become, and my mother just groaned and said "You should probably go."

I usually don't take any seriousness to dreams like this, but since they are getting more and more personal every time I have them, and I am ALWAYS so upset and scared in them, I really want to understand why it keeps coming back. I can't figure out any kind of interpretation for this. Any ideas of a general problem I could be having that could cause this sort of thing?

Damn, sounds rough. Have you been stressing alot in real life lately? Disaster in dreams can mean your fear for the future or relenting something in the future, it can also mean you are overworked with too many tasks and stress at the moment. On the other hand these kinds of dreams can also resemble growth and change from your current self where as Zombies may mean you feel you need to break free from routine and begin a new fresh life, it may also mean your negative thoughts are currently draining the life from you.

The obvious thing that comes to mind is that there is something you take far more seriously than other people around you, and it bothers you in some way. Though you could also just like zombie stuff. Dreams can be unpredictable and are often kind of personal. It is hard to really tell what a dream is about, but the person dreaming it usually gets some idea if they think about it. Unless it is just totally random, which happens some times.

There's something good about having different minds add their interpretation of what we see. It is I agree with Alric, dreams are personalized. A zombie to me is not a zombie to you. So it is a good rule of thumb to keep that in mind. I personally have had dreams of zombies and it turned out it was the feeling of being around emotionless people, who did not care about me. The taking of the drugs could be a triggered story you heard, be it the bath salts or every other prescription commercial on TV (warning...may cause death). You're definitely struggling with a personal thought that others do not seem to worry about. I'd look into what that thought is. Money, love, health, salvation, etc...hope my insight helps.
