Repetitive Rape/Violent Nightmares

I'm 16 in two months and a half and female, if that's of any importance. Since I was about 13 I've been having very clear bad dreams, always about a fictional person who is usually from a game/book/manga. For a long time, they would beat me up in some way and throughout the following day I would feel a dulled version of the pain I experienced, e.g. if my wrist was broken, it would ache throughout the day, if I was shoved off a tower, my whole body hurt all day. The characters who show up in my dreams are never frightening to me in any way while I am awake and usually they are my favourite character from their respective game/book/manga. Over the past year or so, however, these fictional characters have taken to raping me in my dreams. I will repeat, when I am awake these characters do not scare me in any way but in the dreams they are absolutely f*cking terrifying (please excuse the language). Recently I've had about five nightmares about this one male character where he has raped me at least once per dream, and once it was a gang rape. Sorry for repeating this so much, but please don't tell me things like 'stop reading the manga' because the characters don't scare me at all until they show up in my dreams. I'm asking if anyone knows why these dreams are occurring and why my body echoes the pain caused throughout the day, and any answers are welcome, because I've been to a counsellor and he didn't help me at all. I would go about this as in waking life. Rape is not about sex. It's about control and power. Let's rule out that you fantasies about rape. Think about if you have any thoughts that would coincide with those characters enforcing their power over you.

Usually we have recurring dreams to give us a chance to think about them and find a solution to our waking life dilemma or a problem.

I wasn't afraid of the character at all until he first showed up in a nightmare a couple of months ago. In my waking hours he still doesn't frighten me. I think what scares me in the dreams is that because he is a mysterious character, he is unpredictable, and because he is stronger than me (due to him being adult and male) and isn't entirely human, this might contribute to fear of him.

And I can't think of any logical reason why my subconscious would be sending me recurring dreams with this character as he is fictional and I am in no danger of rape from anyone I know.

As I said, it's not about rape, as in sexual act. It's about enforcing someone's will on someone. And the dreams are not literal. They use characters taken from movies or books to talk to us. Mostly dreams just reflect our daytime activities, thoughts, things that made impression on us.

Is someone (not this fictional character) trying to make you do something you don't want to do? Or do you feel like that, even if it may not be what's really happening? Do you feel like someone is "violating" you in some way. Your ideas, privacy, ...?

No. No one is trying to make me do anything or threaten my ideas or privacy or anything like that. My life is completely stable right now and has been so for long as I can remember so I have no idea what symbols these nightmares would represent.

Sometimes, a cigar is just a cigar...

Meaning, a dream could be just that, a dream. A jumble of thoughts without any meaning. And since they are disturbing, you think about them, you dream it again, dream about them more and hence the recurrence. Try to think bout something else before you go to bed. Some happy dream, or even this nightmare but with different storyline. Make it go your way. It's called dream incubation and it may just work.

if you want to lessen the effects,just dont sleep on your stomach or left side.you will have few nightmares or none.

Go to a doctor and ask him to check your blood pressure—people having low blood pressure also see such dreams. So do those people who are anemic or have constant constipation.

Also do as following

Increase intake of fruit in your food—have lots of apples and tin peaches—peaches which are available in a tin in supermarket. Also have pomegranates and try to have four almonds each day.
Take up yoga exercises-especially yoga breathing exercises will be very good for you. Try to do them early in the morning.
Decrease intake of salt for at least a month—that is if you do not have low blood pressure.
Keep away from television, fast food.
Also see that the room in which you sleep is well ventilated as---lack of oxygen can also cause you to see strange dreams.
At dinner chew your food well so that your digestive system has to work less, un-chewed food can cause lot of stress on the digestive system and as a result you can see weird dreams.
Also try to do volunteer work with especial children, try to find an institution in your area and work with them---after around a week all your problems will be solved--the energy, the strength and the will to live in these special children will change your life.

Thank you for helping : ) my diet's always pretty good (minimal junk food; only maybe once or twice a month) and I don't watch TV. I'm generally pretty healthy if a kilo or two underweight. I'll try to take your advice wherever I can. Thank you to everyone who is trying to help me : )
