Recurring nightmares demon dogs please help

So to throw it all out there it started with a moment as a maybe 6 year old child where I was very much awake at a gas station inside the van looking out at my dad as he pumped gas whilst my mom was in the store with my 2 or 3 year old sister in the seat beside me when suddenly I hear first a voice in which I instantly somehow knew was the devil instinctively as I continue my looking out the window only to see his head materialize. All I could do was wonder in terror what was wrong with me. Then at 16 I moved into my first place of my own when I had a "dream" that I still to this day struggle to believe I was asleep where 2 large black vicious bulldog like pitbull height demonic dogs descended down my hallway snarling coming in perfect sync with one another towards me as I sat terrified on my bed somehow knowing beyond the shadow of a doubt that if they reached me my existence would come to an end. My mother used to have similar dreams of demons trying to pull her off of her bed. Another I have is I am standing in a garage of people who are friends in my dream but I have never seen them in real life when 2 very very large (much bigger than the house itself Come from the distance followed by a very large black mist like mass in the sky which I and everyone around me are quite terrified of yet I somehow knew they were coming. As they get closer I scream "they're coming" and run to a bathroom and hide in a stand up shower with three or so inches of water standing in the floor sitting holding my knees. Anyone have the slightest idea what any of this means? Please help!

During two of your experiences, it seemed like two of the same dangerous looking creatures were overwhelming you. The creatures could represent anxiety that you have. During one of your experiences, you knew the creatures where coming while you were at a social gathering. The creatures in this case could represent social anxiety.

      Hi Shaibear32

I’m sorry to hear about your nightmares. It is common for everyone to experience nightmares and they’re usually about the things we fear most. I’m no expert but I would gather these nightmares stem from your traumatic childhood experience in the car and the knowledge that you’re mum experienced similar nightmares which has built up this fear for you. Dreams are built on expectations as well so if you expect these experiences to happen in dreams then they will.

I’m not personally a religious person so I can’t interpret the dreams from that perspective but I can relate to nightmares about childhood experiences. I was chased by a dog as a child, developed a phobia and have since had recurring nightmares about dog attacks despite over coming my phobia many years ago. I’m yet to tackle these nightmares but when I do I intend to get lucid in one and see if I can work with the dream to find out the route of the fear and why it’s still recurring. Some people suggest embracing the fear or asking it why it’s appearing and sometimes the dream will give you an answer or some insight into why it keeps happening. It may be worth a shot.

Also, in regards to the car incident, I wasn’t there but I would assume the voice you heard and the face you saw was most likely an ordinary person who you believed to be the devil given your fears at that age. Memories can be misleading, especially from childhood and perhaps you should consider that what you saw wasn’t actually something scary at all and has been exaggerated in your mind over time. When I was a kid I saw dogs as terrifying creatures that would attack me and tear me to pieces. I now know that isn’t the case. If you open up to the possibility that what you saw that night wasn’t at all what you believed it to be then maybe that could be what reduces the nightmares. Challenge it and see what happens. Good luck.

Like others have said, you may have unresolved fear in your subconscious that is manifesting itself as these scary dream figures.

If these were my dreams, I would be thinking along these lines:

Water in dreams represents emotion. Standing in a shower that has pooled water suggests unprocessed emotion (fear?), and the desire to cleanse oneself.

The dogs are representing some deep fear within you. It could be anything. A good way to find out and get resolution is to become lucid during a nightmare, and simply ask the creature what it represents. You can even try summoning them in your lucid dream and then proceed with asking.

The black mist may represent the unknown or unconscious self. If I were lucid, I would walk intentionally into the mist to see what arises. Summon a light.

If you want to do lucid work like this, make sure you can handle it. You have to be ready to face your fears. If not, then I suggest just using lucidity to fly away from your nightmares or wake yourself up.

The symbol of a dog attacking you could imply that you’re afraid of something. It’s also possible that you feel betrayed or lonely. Moving to your own house is a big step, did you feel homesick? Do have Cynophobia?

How many times do you have these recurring nightmares? Do you keep a DJ?

It is interesting that the dogs were in sync. Compared to scary, dogs out of sync. Have you noticed any other paired synchronizations?

Do you think this dream might be from a subconscious plane or a spirit plane of existence?
