Strange Nightmare I had last night

New here, had a strange nightmare last night and I would like some insight Backstory: My mother has certain medical problems that, while not immediately fatal, will shorten her life noticeably. For a few years when I was younger I spent an unreasonable amount of time and energy drinking and using narcotics as of today I have been clean and sober for almost 5 years. That said, hallucinogens never worked for me and I hate the taste of mushrooms. My mother's best friend lost her husband in May of 2008. The Dream: I was in high school again. I had just been named to the honor roll (never happened once in high school) and since it was a private school I had been awarded a scholarship which would cover my tuition and books until I graduated. I was hanging out with a friend of my sister who I cannot immediately identify I just knew she was my sister's friend. She offered me some "shrooms" and despite what I said in the backstory I readily gobbled them up. After eating them, I immediately blacked out. When I came around, I was in a kitchen in a vacation home owned by my Dad (he doesn't really have one). My mother's best friend's husband (who died almost a year ago) was in the kitchen looking somber. He told me that Mom had been admitted to the hospital for some tests and that she didn't survive one of them. At the same time I learned that the school was aware of my experiment with the mushrooms and had removed my name from the honor roll and canceled my scholarships. While I was devastated by my mother's death, all I could think of was "at least her life insurance will pay my tuition" Any thoughts?
