Scariest Nightmare

Ever had a dream that scared you so much that even after you woke and realized it was a dream, you were still paralyzed with fear. Like so scary that you're afraid of the dark for a couple days. I had a dream like that the summer after my first year of college. I was so scared when I woke up that I actually had to wake up my mother because I had had a nightmare.
So my dream went something like this... I was watching a documentary on the History channel or something, and the narrator is a Ben Stein type. You know, like real monotone but being a smartass about it too. Well he was talking about how the first cities to be saved would be along this major points along the globe, the only one I remember was Atlanta.
Here I saw a globe with random points scattered throughout all the continents, but then he said that, "more specifically, it will look like this." Then the narrator placed a transparency over the globe with a marking that connected the dots to form the Catholic symbol of the holy spirit. Then it showed a cg graphic of golden arrows falling out of the sky.
Then my dream transported me outside of my room, as I faced east I saw a sky full of the blackest storm clouds I've ever seen. But they were exploding into the same golden light from the cg graphic and the explosions were coming my way fast.
Next thing I know I'm in my room, awake now mind you, and the golden light is in my room with me. I didn't open my eyes but I could still see the blinding gold light through my eyelids and feel its warmth. All I could do was close them tighter and curl into a fetal position... until the light disappeared.
I laid there is total disbelief. Scared to open my eyes while my own heartbeat threatened to deafen me and make my heart explode simultaneously. I was so scared I could only be brave in sections. As in, it took me minutes of laying in bed too scared to breathe before I finally sat up. More minutes passed before I finally put one foot off the bed, then the other. I continued in this fashion until I finally was able to stand up, walk to my door, open it, and slowly make my way through my hallway to wake up my mom. There I was a grown man taking a half hour walk to my parent's room because I'm stopping every few minutes out of paranoia, until I could wake up my mother to tell her about my nightmare.
She woke up, made some tea, and drank it with me. We went back to sleep a little later, but man was I still shaking.

i got a couple for ya, i was very ill and going through some very strange health issues about 2 yrs ago and was having these very strange things happen to me around bed time. i would wake up after about an hour or so of sleep on a regular basis with shortness of breath and feeling like i was dying or halfway between dead and alive. whenever this happened it was usually accompanied with dreams of death and evil, it was a chicken or the egg type thing, i didnt know whether it was the dreams causing the feeling or the feeling causing the dreams.

the strangest dream i was in washington dc, i live in portland and have never been to the east coast, and was in front of the memorial with thousands of people and everybody was looking up in the sky in awe of something. i looked up and saw the most beautiful thing in my life. its hard to describe but it was like a giant, blimp size, beautiful tropical fish changing color with a throbbing psychedelic neon butterfly like pattern. i noticed it was inhaling the souls of the crowd of on-lookers in masses and that they were all falling down, dying as the thing floated over them vacuuming up their spirits. i realized that they were sacrificing themselves by giving in to its beauty, the souls are what made its beauty and at that very moment i felt myself giving in to it and felt myself dying and immediately woke up with the feeling of being half dead.

i will never forget this dream my entire life. i have a pretty good imagination and have some very deep dreams with plots and twists like movies but it just boggles my mind to think that my subconscious mind could come up with something like this.

another very strange one i had, i was in an unfamiliar country, possibly middle eastern. and was walking down this street with a close friend of mine who was talking about this guy who was some kind of political leader or royalty of some kind. his pictures were nailed and painted on all the walls and my friend was saying how great of a man he was and how we would look back on this time and feel privileged to have experienced what changes he will bring to mankind. i was kinda ignoring him, like whatever you always say that sorta stuff, when a small poster of him he was holding and looking at while we walked fell from his hands. just before it hit the ground it magically warped back into his hands. he was like whoa, see i told ya he was great! just then we turned to see him walking kinda towards us from under this covered area with a long table with unlit candles on it. as he walked passed the candles each one lit up. we were like holy !!!!!!!! as he turned at the corner of the table to head directly in our direction i made eye contact with him. this very strong vibration started emanating from my stomach kinda like i was being electrocuted and i said to myself this aint good and i realized this was the anti-christ and woke up but i still felt this vibrating. i was completely lucid, and fully awake and it felt like this vibrating, though coming from my stomach, was shaking my entire house. i could hear it and i was freaking out. it lasted about ten seconds and i could hear and feel it simultaneously power down and stop. now i have no idea what that electric pulse or vibration was but it was definitely not in my head i was completely awake and couldnt sleep after that. i have never experienced anything like that before or since but it would be nice to hear some ideas as to what may have caused it. also i am not religious in any way, dont necessarily believe there will be an antichrist or have any idea why i knew he was the antichrist at that moment in my dream.

i just hope that neither of these dreams are prophetic in anyway because i have had semi prophetic dreams and other psychic experiences. i also had a dream about a nuclear war, i was in a bunker with satan himself and he was forcing me to watch everything that had happened including the deaths of my friends and family and all mankind over and over for eternity. when i realized i was dead already and must have been in hell i woke up again to the feeling of being half way dead with shortness of breath and afraid to fall back asleep.

Actually, I like never cry only a few times ever except when I was younger. Too lazy to describe the whole dream but I had 2 lucids the first one these cops kept trying to kill me for having alot of weed in my bag lmao but it was really freaky and all the roads and city were all really weird kinda like the city was disneyland or something; rollercoaster roads and stuff. Then the next one had to do with someone trying to choke me to death in my room and I was trying to wake up so I told myself that I needed to kill him in order to wake up (passive control). After I poisoned him and woke up I was all this freaky imagery even though I was awake and was totally frozen in sleep paralysis. Just as I woke up there were tears streaming down my face even though I wasn't really sad because it was so vivid an realistic I just freaked out :S lol.

The scariest/strangest dreams I've ever had were while I was on prozac for awhile. Man that stuff does weird things to your dreams. Anyways I had this one recurring nightmare for awhile about being drowned (by a different person every time) in a bathtub. It scared the crap out of me for awhile cuz I'd wake up still thinking I was being drowned.

I don't seem to get scared in my dreams, but I do feel disturbed some times.

Yeah same here. Last night I took valerian root to put me to sleep since I was on RItalin and when I mix the two drugs I get weird vivid dreams. Last night I had this dream where everything was black and I could just see the word "Buddha" but it was longer so maybe it said "Boddhisatva" or something then this voice says "you may be in trouble, that just means you have to go away then come back and try again". It was very reassuring the second part of that sentence since it wasn't endall doom kinda trouble just petty trouble then something bizarre happened. I got flooded with a feeling of something terribly wrong and I felt myself getting warped or twisted so I pulled myself outta the dream. I woke up screaming. Weird cuz I wasn't scared I just decided to scream for some reason.

I love nightmares they prove that no matter how convinced by your false logic that inescapable doom is imminent you wake up and realize it was just your false logic that convinced you you were doomed.
