2 weeks Recurring: Black Knife

EVERY night for the past 2 weeks I've dreamed about this same black knife. It's very plain looking, about a foot long, all black, double sided and has a plain brown leather sheath. I never do anything with it, aside from hold it. I kind of feel attached to it - it's strange. It feels like a safety blanket.

It's always with me. I look down, it's my hand, I go into a backpack and find it or someone handed me it etc...

Any ideas about what this could mean, or maybe symbolize?
