"chemicals controle guilt and sorrow and love so they might live in a self considered only world like an evil genius", sorry but that has to the one of the most stupid things I have ever heard. No one thinks that.

You could also say rich people have all they need so are more willing to help others out. While poor people have a heard time just to make it so they will do "anything" they can to survive, like stealing from others, dealing drugs or prostitution. And no, if you become rich from dealing drugs and are a jerk its not the moneys fault, its because you started like that.

As do I. I don't completely recall the quote on internal gold... and actually the more I think about, the more it seems the part about it being more pure with deeper wounds I made up or added. I think the original was more along the lines of "there is gold in the wounds" or "there is gold to be found in the bottom of the wounds." I suppose it doesn't matter much. To me, the deeper meaning is the same no matter how you word it.

According to Full Metal Alchemist the answer is soul, but to me it is love.

Teehee. I was wondering if someone would mention that. Obviously I'm a big fan of Fullmetal Alchemist (hence Edo as my avatar). Aside from being a rockin' anime, there is a lot of truth to the science of FMA (I did a paper on Nicholas Flamel and the Philosophers' Stone in high school and a lot of it is mentioned in the series. They also touched upon it, slightly, in the first Harry Potter book). Anyway, according to Flamel, a major ingredient in the making of the Philosopers' Stone is "soul", but this is loosely translated--it could also mean "blood" or "life". That's ultimately what led me to my conclusion, but I really don't think anyone is right or wrong.

Oh, and I got this riddle of an alchemy site and those are the answers that they provided. I should have added "other" for the purpose of discussion though. It's fascinating to hear everyone debate this riddle and everyone has made valid points as to why they chose what they did. Yume, why did you choose love?

Dream-scape - yeah i hear ya, either of the ways you have mentioned make sense to me.

As for love and soul to me they come from the same internal place they are not separate. Love is just easier to see/feel etc. You can see love in someone’s eyes and feel that love in your heart. Where as seeing/feeling someone’s soul is a whole different thing. Its not so easily done.....well maybe it is if you are open to feeling that kind of energy? So when i choose love like i said in my last post it is also including my essence/spirit so including my soul.

      Peace Sensi.

\"alchemy, it is both the riddle and the answer\"[/b]
Great Quote! you can think about the meaning of this for hours and still not come to a conclusion!

I love the Alchemist, a very cool book to read.

Yeah The Alchemist is brilliant. As are all his books. He conveys the most complex ideas in the simplest ways, which to me make the most sense. Why make things more complicated?

      Money for me

I put energy, because my friend told me that if energy was wrong he would give me $1.

      I personally think its love

I don't know the right answer. So tell him "energy" was wrong and you can get your dollar. =P

In our hearts we all have our own answers to this question. It is our own percieved self-truth. It is not wrong, but different based on experiences and free will. People can perceive what they want to perceive and choose to mold life how they want it. The fact that people have self-truths different from a decided truth makes them different and have different answers to questions. There is never really a wrong answer to anything... well maybe in math.

The answer is "paradise through knowledge and freedom" if you think anything else you are wrong

Just kidding...I don't know what the answer is
There are great truths and there are trivial truths. The opposite of a trivial truth is obviously false. The opposite of a great truth is also true.

I love alchemy imagery, i brought a really cool book about 6 months ago called "The Book of Alchemy" by Francis Melville.

Its a great book, i love the riddles in both the writing and the images.
