If there is life after death, I can tell you now, it isn't going that stupid heaven/hell thing. That is just too....hmm......"Fairytaleish". I mean, where are the unicorns? I don't think the Bible was supposed to be taken literally. As far as I'm concerned, the Bible is just about as true as the book of "Asop's Fables". It has a few good lessons, but I would never take it as the honest, 100% truth. Anyway, I think that as far as "God", I am God. Only I can rule my life, and only I can change it. When I do something bad, I ask forgiveness of myself, and I punish myself for those bad things. You and I, and everyone else is God.....Look around you. That is God. That connection bettween everything, people, and life itself. That is what this "God" figure is. |

You're absolutely right ronso. I was talking about Trinity Broadcasting Network before which is a Christian TV station. From what I've seen from it, people turn to God to make their lives more comfortable. To ease their financial burdons or ease their suffering. And gold-clad preachers will attest that through a relationship with God (which often times seems to involve conversation), He has made them prosperous. |

Personally I am Jewish and I believe that there is a higher being. I'm one to go towards intelligent design ideas.I just believe we all die and go our separate paths into different existences. |

So many variables, so little knowledge.
I think whatever happens when I die I will deal with it. If I go to hell I will incourage the people there to become good If I reincarnate I will do the same. If I go to heaven I dont exactly know what I'll do. maybe a job like a gaurdien angel or something. I dont want to go too sleep forever, But maybe thats best. |

The Hindu faith has a rule...in that if you don't live your life that you are living now in a good and sucessful way, the gods will get angry with you, and you could come back as a lesser being than you were... |

Whoever said that a human is the highest form? If reincarnation were true, how would we know that a dung beetle would be a bad thing? |
|
goes back to the fact that we only know a thing is so because somebody told us. |

I think humans are a 'higher' (I hate the word, but oh well) form of reincarnation than lets say, beetles. I think our potential is much much higher, the human body and mind offers us the ability to reason at high levels, and to feel large amounts of love and compassion (something a beetle cannot, at least not up to our level). On the other hand we have much greater responsibilties and are capable of alot of negative things aswell, like hate and anger. I think the more love one is capable of feeling, the 'higher' developed the being is. Thats why you could say 'angels' are one step above us (they are less pestered by things such as hate) (if you believe in angels anyway) |

The death experience is a very complex one, and in most accounts results in reincarnation. Not many will return to their true state (some call enlightenment). It's entirely down to the individual. After many lifetimes everyone shall fully return to this state. Like you experience a dream, and although in the dream you don't know it, you are always in the bed. You never left it. Life is that dream, and in between dreams is a chance to wake up, but most of the time souls choose to return to the dream state, mainly because they don't understand. They have forgotten their true state. From time to time, however, one will escape the dreams, and this occures as a result of realising you are dreaming (much like LD). They may choose to remain out of the dream, or return and help others to escape. Many are ignorant, though. |

Personally, as a cradle Catholic who has examined other religions, I always come back to Catholocism. This is not to impose my views on someone else; it is simply an answer to the original question. Even if Everlasting Life does not exist, I find immense comfort in the thought that it does. As for God, I believe He is an ever-watching and caring being. Having experienced my share of deaths, it is incredible to believe I will see the people I love most again. So maybe I'm a wuss for beliving in this to take comfort in the fact that my soul is not mortal. Well, it keeps me sane and it helps me keep going every day. Whatever works, people. |
