If you knew who it was that started the other post, you would not say that.

Why, yes it does, all my point was you could have kept it in Leo's topic instead of starting this rather pointless topic.

PS My post was here first. You should ask Universal Mind Why the second post. Check the time posted.

I don't wish to converse with Leo. Besides no one that I care to converse with would be there.

All my point is, is that if you didn't want to talk to him, you should have kept quiet as opposed to making a new topic to voice your opinion on the matter.

      Welll....ok

I know the very fact of resisting Christianity shows weakness in one's ability to embrace truth. The method is more important than what you make contact with.

Well, props anyway for coming to defense of the faith.

The only ironic thing that may happen is that people will come to debate on a thread that claims no debate.

Re: There is no Debate on the foundations of Christianity

Christians know that over half of the new testament was written by Paul the apostle and have no problem seeing that. [/b]
It's funny, I've never heard someone say that before. Care to back it up? This site might help. I was under the impression that paul wrote a few letters.

Believing what it says because they have the same spirit and understand the writings.[/b]
Woah... that explains how every chrisian sect agrees on everything... oh wait. Must be bad spirit reception?

You mean, the 66% of people lead by evil, right?

My quoting mechanism will not quote the person (Alex D) who quoted Dreamtamer007, but he originally said that there is no debate on the foundations of Christianity in response to the thread titled "Debate on the foundations of Christianity." My thread titled "No debate on no debate on foundations of Christianity" was a response to that. It looks like Dreamtamer007 edited his posts and the title of this thread after I made my joke, but Alex D's above quote preserved Dreamtamer007's original statement. So now there is no debate on no debate on no debate on the foundations of Christianity.

It seems to me, Dreamtamer, that you're just trying to insult people with stupidly outrageous claims that don't make any sense half of the time. The bible was written by a man....Not by the Almighty themself (leaving room for it to be a chick or dude, if there is one). It's not 100 percent fact....You have either been brainwashed by the religious freaks of society, or you've brianwashed yourself.

Did you even go to the site? Its a collection of resources on the christian texts - a very detailed collection. And, upon perusing that (or any other scholarly source), you find that no-one has ever sucessfully argued that paul wrote 1/2 of the new testament. I wasn't even aware anyone had tried.

So uh... still care to back it up?

okay, to get this thread on topic....
I believed in God for many, many years. Even went so far as to call myself Catholic, and uphold Catholic beliefs, in spite of the fact that i was only baptised in the faith, and not confirmed.
But, as i've grown older, and had more experiences, i've decided not to make God the deciding factor in what i do. I've found in myself, that i believed in God when i was 'less aware' of the world.
I don't know what i'd call myself now. Probably nothing, because in walking away from the church, i've also walked away from anything that could label me, or put me into a certain section of society. I hate to be held back, or held in.
If people ask me, i simply tell them i have a deep spirituality, which is based on life experience, and the things i've learned, particularly over the last three years.
It's something i try to encourage within myself, explore it. I also talk to other people about it, but in no way am i preaching, by telling people to do what i do, therefore they will become 'better'.
We are all what we are. But that doesn't mean we have to stay that way. Each and every one of us has the capacity to change and grow, we just need to find a way of expressing that.
I guess that's all i have to say for now.
'all of the moments that already passed/
try to go back and make them last.'

I have no desire to convert anybody to atheism. I love discussing religion with willing participants, which is what you are if you read and respond to posts in a religious debate thread. It's interesting stuff. I also like to scope out the possibility that Christianity is the truth because I used to be a Christian. Some of the emotional aspect of it is still with me, and I have a need to look really hard at it sometimes. My goal is not to change anybody's mind. If you believe that something totally good and infinitely powerful is the creator of the universe and that you will have eternal life, that is awesome. I would like to believe it too.

Yea, I couldn't really tell based on the posts what this thread is about but I'm guessing it has something to do with Christianity and it's beginnings.

Well the beginnings of the church were pretty arrogant and heretical. Ya know, the Inquisitions and such. But people shouldn't use this to denounce a belief system. That would be fairly similar to walk up to a random Italian and yell at him that he killed Jesus and he's a damn pagan or to call a German a cold-blooded Jew killer. You can't judge people by the things they didn't do, so by saying that Christianity is a violent and arrogant religion is pretty ignorant.
