Thread: What is your explanation of Human Condition?

It's a side effect of having a complex, powerful brain that evolved for communication and problem solving. As we gained intelligence and knowledge, we wanted more. We wanted to see how far we could go.

Yep . . . Good ole humans - finding the limits and then crossing the line . . .

Society does not permit anyone to experience anything like the " HUMAN CONDITION "
If your eyes could be opened a little, you would see what I mean.
We are brainwashed from birth to see, as others want us to see.
So much bull out there, that my nose stings, every time I leave the house.
I find this path is a lonely one.
Wanting to help others to see, when they enjoy the darkness so much.
I have nothing but pity for those in self made prisons of addiction, and fear.
Emotional pain is relished, and held onto like a junkies stash.
The joy that everyone can find is right in front of you.
Enlightenment is nothing you can find, it is already within us.
My one hope is for others to experience even a little of the " Human condition "
Only meeting others further along the path keeps me going.

I am going now, as my emotions are bouncing all over the place, and so is my grammar.
Too much coming to the surface, and not enough time to write it down before it fades.
I have had an unusual day.

I think the ultimate desire is freedom, and this leads us to expand our horizons.

But I also agree completely with your comments above and, personally I find, that the path gets lonelier, the further along you get. This is, probably, what keeps most people away from it.

But even the most enlightened are also in the dark (or so I presume) ... As times passes, I'm beginning to get the apprehension that the only limits in existence are those of our own making - the mind creating its own boundaries.

We may believe, that we can't dream lucidly all the time, and this keeps us from doing so. We may believe, that when we grow old we will wither away, become frail and die. And so it happens.

In dreams, we tend to get what we expect, and it seems to me that this also applies in waking life.

Maybe the key is to not create the limits in the first place. To expect there are no limits ...

TiredPhil thanks for letting your emotions come to surface and sharing it , that is exactly what i have been looking for , i am doing research and i need to hear different peoples take on this subject, their experiences and feelings so i can put it all together .

I do not believe in enlightenment as such.
The more i know, the more I know, I do not know
There are just various stages of realisation, in which an amazing truths come to light.
Several of these awakenings have happened, but the destination never seems to get any closer.
It just makes life a little easier to cope with.
Eastern vedic beliefs say if you reach enlightenment, holding onto your body is no longer possible.
Glad I am not enlightened yet.

What you see as a limitation I see as a manifestation of myself. I am not bound by my body, I am my body. The tendency for us as a society to grasp for the unattainable may have to do with our insecurity, but my efforts in self improvement stem from a sort of "Wouldn't it be cool..." attitude. To me it is a way to make life as interesting as possible.

Loaded questions such as this that can cause confusion between emotions, belief, condition, and reasoning. The desire to know more and simply be more may lead to trans-humanism contemplation because of the physical and mental limitations for sapient beings such as us.
Here are some concepts (but not everything) that may pertain to the human condition:

• Being aware of our own physical limitation, and yet our minds that presumably has a higher level of cognition and reflective nature that can allow us to speculate beyond those physical boundaries. Combine that with a lucid dreaming forum such as this, there’s all sorts of individuals who dive into consciousness exploration in their non-lucid and lucid dreams where they may become aware of more cognitive processes which may lead to further questioning.

• Our gregarious nature can allow the probability for individuals to be either malevolent or benevolent. Of course, there’s going to be people who have beliefs in soft and hard determinism, and combine that with the arguments of antinatalism, nihilists, fatalist, and other impasse philosophies, we can get into semantic gymnastics here (e.g. free-will and trying to find some compatibility at an individual and aggregate level (i.e. communal, universal).

• Our driving forces, entrenched predispositions, conceptual schemes, upbringing, personal dispositions, and such. We may contemplate on debates with whether or not there’s another life or if there’s a supernatural entity and those who debate about it (e.g. through ontological, teleological, and cosmological means), but we are still aware that we’re mortal.

• Then there’s the question on how we would distinguish ourselves from other species, and whether or not certain abilities (e.g. metacognition, cognition, pattern-recognition in a complex reality) are exclusively reserved for just us. Especially when there’s cases of other animals (metacognition in rats) that are non-primates that can be reflective of their own mental processes. If there’s a probability of self-reflective entities to figure out their own mental processes to survive, it would make philosophical discussions like this look like we’re in some kind of petty angst or something.

It's just a matter of disposition.

The human condition is a canyon made out of all the slippery slopes (unintended consequences) descended by our ancestors.

I'm not sure what you mean by human condition, sounds an awful lot like instincts how you've described it. If that's what you're getting at, then I'd say in the simplest way we're trying to figure out how to live forever. The human condition is literally death since it's our only certainty unless there is a God, then we're trying to break free of its design. That's still only trying to escape death.
