I'm confused here... was this thread moved into Philosophy at some point, because I don't remember the first few pages ? *scratch head*
Never mind..
As to the discussion:
I beginning to feel that it would be a good idea to have a separate religion section. That way those that don't WANT to read the religious stuff, don't have to.
Kim & Awaken: It's fairly clear that you two are coming out as the leaders (I'll hold back on the 'self-appointed' - I think its more of a case of strong conviction and outspokenness (?))
It's obvious that you two speak past each other, and seemingly disagree on everything.
Can't we just accept that, and disagree without resorting to insults (implied and otherwise)?
The real problem here is that when a specific religious topic is started, the scientifically minded people respond with discussions on whether God and creation exists in the first place.
This has happened time and time again and of course it makes sense, because why would you want to discuss... eg. the interpretation of Genesis and the creation, if you don't believe in the creation to begin with? You cut to the core of the problem you have with it, but the core of the problem is far off topic and throws the thread off. Usually turning it into personal attacks :?
This is why I reckon a separate religious section would solve this - that way the religious-minded can keep the conversation on the line they are interested in without involving arguments about the existence of God, etc.
I'd suggest that discussions about God's existence and the creation belong in Philosophy, but not discussions on bible scripture (we make that new section for this)
