I invited professor James Tartaglia to talk about his ideas as he holds an unusual worldview. Apart from subscribing to metaphysical idealism, James is also an existential nihilist and a de facto atheist. We cover the importance of philosophy, the history of human ideas regarding metaphysics, the ineffability of some altered states of consciousness and materialism as a metaphysical stance and political weapon against religion.

James Tartaglia is a Professor of Metaphysical Philosophy, having obtained his Ph.D. and other qualifications from University College London. James is also Associate Editor at the Journal 'Human Affairs' and, as a jazz saxophonist, he is creative in producing philosophical music. He has authored books such as 'Rorty and the Mirror of Nature', 'Philosophy in a Meaningless Life', 'Philosophy in a Technological World: Gods and Titans', 'A Defence of Nihilism' and his latest, 'Inner Space Philosophy'.
