It was a pleasure to talk to Dr Melvin Morse who specialises in paediatrics and has authored several articles and books on paranormal phenomena and near-death experiences, including the New York Times bestsellers 'Closer To The Light' and 'Where God Lives.' Dr. Morse has also been interviewed on Oprah Winfrey and Larry King about his research into near-death experiences and has also appeared in an episode of Unsolved Mysteries.

He is also the head of the Institute for the Scientific Study of Consciousness (ISSC) and is also one of the winners of the BICS challenge, a research program created by the Bigelow Institute for Consciousness Studies whose research explores both the survival of consciousness after physical death and the nature of the afterlife. In the mid 1980s, Morse began to research near death experiences and published a study on the subject in the American Journal of Diseases of Children.

Dr. Morse was once voted one of 'America’s Best Doctors' by his peers as one of the top pediatricians in the country; and in 2010 the Journal of Near-Death Studies published his article 'Near-death experiences, deathbed visions, and past-life memories: A convergence in support of van Lommel’s Consciousness beyond life'. The following year, in 2011, Dr. Morse became one of the recipients of the Warcollier Research Award granted by IRVA/IRIS. He has also conducted research on children’s near-death experiences, childhood leukemia, PTSD management, the new scientific paradigm of consciousness, random number generation, and the benefits of reiki therapy and kundalini meditation.

Dr. Melvin Morse also co-founded The Recidivism Prevention Group which assists addicts and former inmates in developing their spirituality using meditation techniques so that they can then re-enter society as productive members.
