      What am I?

If a person came out and told you they weren't human would you believe them? Plus what if that person didn't know what they are? Is it sane for a human being to feel they aren't normal?

You are what you choose to be. Everyone chooses different, some seem to be very similar, others are outcasts.

Belief is more or less based on inconclusive evidence from what I understand, so yes its quite possible that I would believe If i were to see some sort of proof. It all depends on the circumstances.

Whatever you are getting so excited about I do not know, but it is important to be calm. And above all else, trust yourself. If you have to go spend some time alone and away from everyone and everything for a while, maybe a few days or so sounds good?

Well, there is the legitimate argument for the Particular against the General. In Philosophy 101 we learn that there is a set of things call 'horses'. By this we are to understand that all of the creatures who meet a certain criteria are by definition 'horses'. But each particular horse is slightly individualistic -- there are slight variations. The Platonists would assert that at the level of the Logos there is some Perfect Model of 'Horse-ness'. The Nominalists are perhaps closer to the Truth when they insist that the term "horse" is just a convenient invention necessitated by language -- that it is useful to Generalize the concept of Horse, but that it does little to differentiate between all the variations of each individual and particular 'horse'.

Now, regarding Human Beings. We have Human Beings the Materialistic Animals. Then we have Human Beings as Spiritual Aspirants. The Spiritual Aspirant would be loath to continue an identity with Human Beings as materialistic animals. Indeed, after one has Dreamt and Astral Travelled long enough to acquire a Spiritual Body of Light, transcending many of the anthropomorphic and mammalian characteristics of the Human Body, then it begins to make sense that such a Spiritual Being might begin to object to being called Human.

Indeed, we can observe Cultural History and see that in the development of Aristocratic Class consciousness, that those of High Culture feel a need to differentiate themselves from the lowest elements of the Breed. We see distinctions between Gentlemen on one hand and Commoners -- riffraff -- on the other. Polite Civilized Spiritual vs. rude barbaric and worldly. Consult any Victorian Literature. The gulf between the Classes might as well be the difference between two different Species. They even called it 'Breeding'.

      I would say hallelujah
If you can rationalize that you may be sane then you are not really insane.

By this are you implying someone has said that to you?! In all seriousness the first thing would be get them sitting down, then check for signs of a concussion/compression, if you find any (or even if you don't I suppose) get them to seek medical attention.

But other than that, if they're not just pulling your leg, are they implying they're some sort of spirtual being? Or maybe an alien posing in human form? As for not feeling normal, I'd hate to be classed as normal, as would a lot of people, so I'm guessing it's not a problem!

Actually I just thought it would be a interesting subject to discuss. BTW I'm not saying I'm different or anything I just thought the idea of someone saying they are different or not normal. How would that person play out in your own person Philosophy would the thought be rejected or accepted? Have you safe guard yourself with a high form of logic or is one accepting? What does it say about ones own Philosphy when the person questions the very means of what they are?

No, I would most likely not believe a person who said so. And I do not think it's insanity if someone considers himself/herself to not be normal.

I would ask him what a human is.

      Sanity is relative.

It wouldn't really make that much of a difference to me

I don't judge somebody by what they are or claim to be.. I don't care if they claim to be an alien or an angel or anything similar, that won't make me look strange.. and hey, who knows Just like I don't care if somebody is rich or poor, black or white.

I'd rather be around a really kind, loving human than an asshole alien =P

But besides that, I wouldn't think they are insane. They're not harming anybody, are they? I mean.. figuring out 'what' they are is something they gotta figure out, not me. I just figure out if I like them as a person and a soul and go from there

I would have to get to know that person better, see if they really are 'not very human' . But really though, I think an enlightened spiritual being wouldn't mind being called 'human', after all they would be able to achieve supreme happiness even as a 'simple' human. They're happy just being. That's part of being enlightened I guess

Unless you are were talking about spiritual beings in general, not necessary the 'enlightened' kind.. ^_^"

First off, I would ask some else if they could see them, just to make sure they weren't a figment of my imagination.

I would be skeptical of the person's sanity, but would not immediately dismiss that. I would try to find out why they believe that and go from there. I have not had that experience, so I could not fully imagine what I would do. Maybe put them in a book or something.

As for the statement "You are what you choose to be," that actually is true to a degree. Leo, you mentioned that you choose to be rich and good-looking. Both of those are relative terms with varying degrees of meaning. There is rich in love, rich by monitary standards, rich in family, rich in friends, etc. Also, one may not be beautiful by the world's standards, but who's to say you're not beautiful in your own eyes or in the eyes of your friend. As they say in Russian: Не по хорошу мил, а по милу хорош. (He is not dear because he is fine, but he is fine because he is dear.)

(I hope I said that right... *goes to look it up*)

I'd subtly ask them how they got here and hijack their technology to make the biggest breakthrough in space travel known to mankind.
