The world is not ready for my ideas.
The world really can't be ready for anything. You were just rediculed and people didn't kiss your ass.

I can imagine a better world with no violence.
No you can't because everyone has a view on a better world and all contridict with each other. Warning: Making this statement does not make you wise. It just makes you another dilusional psycho just like the rest of us.

      All wars are evil.
What about wars that gave countries there independence and freedom?

I think there for I am.
Thinking doesn't give reason to a person's existence.

If you have any strange quotes please post them and give your reason to go against them. These are only opinions of people so don't make post about other peoples posts. This post was made to assist people in wondering if all the famous quotes that people over use; are really that great. It's also to see how people think.

It does; if you are able to think, you are able to know that you exist. If you did not exist, you would not be able to think. But this can only be used to prove one's own existance, no one elses.

I agree with King and God on that part.

Also, mkauf84, you are wrong for the very reason of even thinking you are right.

This thread is about saying why quotes are stupid, right?

Err, yes the world can be "ready" for things if you consider it ready in that it is accepting. If an idea is controverisal, of course the world might not be "ready" for it and it won't be accepted.

No you can't because everyone has a view on a better world and all contridict with each other. Warning: Making this statement does not make you wise. It just makes you another dilusional psycho just like the rest of us.[/b]
You know, you can imagine something without it being possible. I can imagine a flying elephant. Despite the inability of elephants flying, I can still imagine it. Therefore, he can indeed imagine a world without violence. Furthermore, even though everyone has a different viewpoint on the world that contradicts, that doesn't mean violence MUST occur. Ever heard of Ghandi? Non-violent methods are used, as well.
What about wars that gave countries there independence and freedom?[/b]
Clearly the author of this quote is not referring to the motivation nor the outcome of wars. Obviously the outcome of certain wars is good, but that does not mean the war itself is good. The author is implying that the deaths and tragedies that occur during war is what makes it "evil."

      Thinking doesn't give reason to a person's existence.[/b]
      See king and god's post...

Because the other quotes weren't opinions of people, right?

      Technically... It's wrong...

Descartes wrote "Cogito Ergo Sum", which literally translated to "I think, therefore, I am."

He actually was very sorry later on in his life to have written it that way, because he didn't even mean it like that:
      "I think, therefore, I am"

It actually means "there is thought, therefore, an actively thinking entity exists" whatever that entity may be.

And it's true: There is thought, so there must be something that's thinking stuff, right?

So: Technically, this isn't stupid at all...

And btw: It actually IS reason for a person to exist. If you interpret the sentence by its literal meaning...

      But someone already said that:

"I did not have sex with that woman."

I think we all know the fallacy of that statement...
