      which comes first?

i was thinking about this question after posting on a thread about reincarnation.

do you think the brain is controlled by a sieres of chemical reaction or that the chemical reactions are controlled by your brain?

i have been doing extensive biological research lately and i think the earlier is more scientificaly sound however is quite confusing because where does that allow for creativity, etc. etc? however then i'm reminded that the only reason why everyone is "unique" is because the chromotides essencially mess up while transfering your parents DNA to yours.

      what do you think?

I'm not too familiar with everything about the brain, but because the brain's in charge of decision making I'd assume that it choses when something is "right" or "wrong" and secretes the proper chemicals in order to tell you/make you feel if something's right or wrong, if it makes you feel good or hurts you.

think about it this way: your brain is just a vast array of electronic sensors and transmittors (That's how the synapses in your brain work which in essence ARE your brain, thus electronic brain waves). i'm wondering what MAKES you think basically. are your thoughts dependent on chemical reactions or does something else induce these thoughts which in turn trigger chemical reactions.

IMO brain is just a link between body and spirit. so chemical reactions inside it are controlled by your mind...

If that were the case why would there be drugs that influence the chemicals in the brain. That would conclude that once the chemicals are changed, not by youself, then your brain reacts. Just like melotonin or supplements. The brain reacts because of a chemical change just as any other part of your body would react to a change of diet. If you could control the chemical reactions in your brain then you should be able to control other organs as well for the brain is just another organ.

Don't the chemical reactions just 'fuel' or 'start-up' your brain, and not 'control' it? I do not think that a bunch of proteins and electomagnetic pulses and such are 'controlling' your thoughts, but instead are allowing them to occur.
