Spiritualism and the Psyche-are we playing ourselves?

Has anyone ever considered the fact that almost every bit of "spirituality" (visions, psi, and the likes) is all being programmed in our brain as holucinations do to the fact that those who do experience such truly believe in every inch of them that what they are experiencing is real to every extent?
I mean, the human race is an extremely intellegent character. What if those of us who do chase down spirituallity through visions and highly advanced meditations are just releasing the same chemicals in our brains that someone psychotic would, except we have control over it and the proccess.

Neither. The spiritual cause these effects out of their own will, making it more stable and "real", considering it is backed up by the will to apply information proccessing, and that insane have no will over it, caused by moments in their life against their own will. What I am preposing here is that we might just be doing the same things to ourselves mentally what someone psychotic might be forced to do or see.

What if we are jsut willing our brains to show us "spiritualism"?

Thats why when you look for answers you can't have any assumtions on how things work. You have to search for the truth, and nothing but the truth. What your saying would make sense for certain people (say, the Christians and most other religions), because they BELIEVE in something without knowing it exists, so it would make sense that they could trick themselfs. But for the true Seeker of Truth, it doesn't matter what the truth is, all that matters is that it is the truth.

Charles Jung was once asked, "Do you believe in God?"

He looked strait into the camera and replyed, "I don't have to believe. I know."

If the truth to life is something very unsettling and makes life look like some minor and insignificant event in time, then I would accept it because its the truth. But I've seen enough physical evidence to contridict this notion. As Charles Jung said, I don't have to believe. I know.

See, I take what I know and search for theorys to explain life. I may think some theorys could possibly be the answer, but I don't know therefore I don't believe, and I'm not going to let these ideas interfere with my search for the truth. These theorys simply explain phenomena that hasn't been explained. It doesn't make them right and as long as someone knows that, then I think they don't have to worry about loosing it.

wer, I'm not trying to disprove you, but what if the "truth" spiritualists (or others) believe is actually a lie?

when you think that way, you begin to consider that everythingg believable can be a lie. So you become more skeptic.

      That's exactly what I am

Saying quantum physics explains cognitive processes is just like saying geology explains jurisprudence.

Nothing we believe is a lie, but none of it is true either.

The only reason I'm still searching for answers and the only reason I accept psychic abilities as truth is because I have seen enough that it would be stupid for me to NOT believe in psionics. If I have never seen any proof of these abilities, I would also be a skeptic towards psychic phenomena. I still consider myself a skeptic because I don't accept anything as a fact unless I've seen some kind of proof backing it up, and even then I consider all possible explanations.
