Or maybe you just think you can see, but really you are blindfolded. But someone has drawn little pictures on the inside of your blindfold, and you see the pictures and are deceived into thinking you have no blindfold at all.

That really is a wonderful analogy

Edit: I just had to comment again on how much I love it.

      *sighs*

You are blinded by society and blinded by you own ability not to be able see past what has been programmed into your brain as "logical" and "acceptable".

You are blinded because you can't think outside the box. Think about it, the only way we've gotten where we are now is when some brilliant thinker thought outside the box and spread ideas that were generally thought of as crazy at the time. The theories I speak of don't go against science in any way, no, not at all. You are the one who is blindfolded my friend.

      Science is evolving, catch up.

This disgrace to civilisation should be done away with at once. Heroism at command, senseless brutality, deplorable love-of-country stance, how violently I hate all this, how despicable and ignoble war is; I would rather be torn to shreds than be part of so base an action! A found this sad attempt at hating on people's thoughts quite ironic and typical of your posting style. All one needs to do is look at your signature to step into your mindset, "I hate this thread". That pretty much sums up your feelings on just about everything, doesn't it? One of a path of hatred.

Science isn't the end all be all of the world, and if you think it is, then it is you who remains blindfolded. Sure, it provides us with some luxuries and some practical answers to some practical everyday questions of how this contradictory and paradoxical material world of ours works, but science still reaches a dead end with itself. If you can't admit that, you unfortunately remain trapped within a close-minded bubble of delusion just like all other 'leap of faith' type mindsets.

Science, is no more than an ideology- a breakdown if you will. Constantly being amended, edited, and changed to match our level of understanding. If you truly believe that Science holds all the keys to all the doors of existence, you must go in on an extraordinary leap of faith. One paralleling that of all the other flawed religions and ideologies known to exist in the world. Intuitively, there will always remain unknowns- areas that can no longer be reached using current thought patterns or formulas (ie. Quantum Physics- Infamous Double Slit Experiment). Ideologies resulting in questions without any answers, or arriving at random answers that defy all logic and reason used to get up to that point. Almost, as if, Science is being protected from itself, by itself. Never quite able to reach the end of the road placed before it. You really should learn to pick and choose where to find and see the many faces of truth so you don't reach stagnation along the road of truth.

Y'know it's funny. In my thread, for example, I feel I dealt with you quite reasonably and eloquently, and even used Science to reach alot of my conclusions and explanations, and still your bile knew no bounds. I simply used Science, to see Science for what it is. An explanation or counter-intuitive hunch into the unknown using precursors of past discoveries to provide us with some sort of insight or understanding into the world around us. But like any methodology, it is forever flawed in that it still leaves you with a slew of questions or unknowns. Perhaps I'm misreading the whole tone of this thread but, it seems you are speaking as if, you or Science already have all the unknowns figured out when you clearly don't. Or, is there something you know that the rest of the world doesn't about Science?

Now let me pose a question back at you...
Why do you feel you must excrete your bile onto those that don't espouse the same belief in Science as an ultimate truth system, as yourself?

I figure, if their way of thinking isn't harming anyone let them have it, however delusional it may be. Great change is wrought from thought, anyway. Why get on them for trying to push the envelope of themselves and the world around them. It's definitely a much better way to go about living than your current mental model is. I highly advise you to learn the fine art of, "Live, and let live..."

Currently, your hatred is clearly misplaced. It seems to me, you just hate your 'self' so you feel this overwhelming need to push that hatred out onto others like a viral infectious negative energy cloud surrounding the very essence of your being. Basically, having your judgement clouded by the hate cloud itself, so everyone and everything you come in contact with seems so absurd and distorted to the point that it just fuels your anger that much further... It's time to look in the mirror and ask again, Who is the one who is blindfolded?

      Hehe. Nice.

Indeed, I can see nothing more foolish than to discourage lateral thinking; that completely ridiculous and illogical process that has led to practically all of the greatest ideas in history.

It seems this discussion needs a round table lol where ppl treat eachother with respect, so what if someone thinks differently then you do, and if someone tries to bash you he/she just will create an unfriendly imago no one will take such a person serious.

If you dont find the discussion worthy or interesting you can always leave it

Nu uh! You're blinder than I am. You're inside of two boxes. I take back my blindfold comment, though, because it seems those pictures were painted directly onto your eyeballs.

      How, now, crackman?

Just look at the "hate" in those comments, which were all in one post. And how could any of that be the case if reality is only an illusion? Do you remember preaching that a bunch? Is your obsessively hateful nature an illusion?

      Yeah, that's you.

And now for the topic. Science is the art of reducing leaps of faith as much as possible. It is a system that involves testing and supporting theories. Nothing is ever fully proven. Theories are only supported, and the strength of each is a matter of probability. Religion does not involve that. Religion is not about faith leap reduction. It is just about faith leaping.

Hate begets hate... and you'd know all about that, wouldn't you Universal? Why exactly are you trying to continue some lame ass debate in here when I said I'm done trying to argue with backwater hicks, such as yourself. You support FOX news for crying out loud. LOL. Wait. Did that Jackson, Mississippi remark not sit well with you in your personal prison of hickdom and naivety? Yeah, I was pretty sure it wouldn't. I mean, after all is said and done, it is you who are stuck in a lame uneventful podunk town at the end of the day.

You can look back on my posts. I never once claimed to be this innocent little flower, although if you actually did know my true thought process' you would know I generally do enact the idea of 'live and let live', and allow people to carry on whatever way of thinking they please, as long as that ideology doesn't impede on others' freedoms.

In the case of the Iraq and al Qaeda threads, certain ways of thinking lead to one of spreading fear, which in turn leads to violence, which then impedes on other people's freedoms and livelihood, so naturally I'd feel a little more passionately about those given areas. If you must know.

How about this?... you stay in your amazingly diverse world of Jackson, Mississippi surrounded by those vast untold sources of unbiased information and knowledge, and I'll stay in my teeny-tiny minuscule mindset from a worldly perspective, here in Japan. That way, we can stay out of each others' hair and agree to disagree. k, thx. [/sarcasm]

That way, we can stay out of each others' hair and agree to disagree. k, thx. [/sarcasm]
I see you begetting the initiation of hate all over this site. If you want to be a major hypocrite, then I hope you are enjoying it.

Oh, you got me by saying I watch Fox News. I watch all of the major news networks. They are huge corporations who are in major big time competition with each other, so lying is suicide. What news sources do you trust more, and why? Try not to dodge that question like you did the past fifteen times.

Who brainwashed you into being so narrow minded about Jackson? It is 70% black. Are those the people you are calling hicks? You racist. A lot of the world's biggest communications companies have their headquarters here. Blues and rock and roll were both invented and spread within very short distances of where I live, but I guess you could never appreciate that since you perform that torturously pathetic bing bong fluff that you call music. You probably also can't appreciate the long list of world renowned writers who are from here since reading is such a difficult task for you, as evidenced by your admission that you barely read the posts you argue with. Speaking of that, I think you missed my counterargument about your anally originated assertion that science is a religion. You always seem to miss counterarguments. I know many ideas are hard for you to conceptualize, but at least you have my sympathy.

You didn't only say you watched FOX news, you sat there and defended it passionately as being an unbiased news source. Despite being reamed by everyone else in the thread to the contrary.

Jackson, Mississippi is 70% black? Really? According to wikpedia, ...it's 75.35% White, 20.87% Black or African American, 0.33% Native American, 1.57% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 0.72% from other races, and 1.12% from two or more races. 2.14% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race

...sounds like a regular plaid shirt wearing hick-fest, to me.

You really needn't bother trying to convince me of what your town isn't. It seems you've already done a good enough job with that on yourself. Funny, how you carry around that silly pride in your lame ass town for things that happened there generations ago. It just goes to show how uneventful your sad little life actually is. Being proud of events, people, and places with no actual connection to yourself in the here and now. Tsk tsk. By all means, feel free to keep on living in that little bubble I just popped, though.

And, actually, I saw your attempts at refuting my point. But, as I said earlier, I'm not going to even bother arguing with you, since your narrow perspective seems to stifle all conversations it comes into contact with. Continue living in your delusion, thinking you have some culture, and go to a hoedown or something. Just do it far away from me. k, thx!

      Haha. Eh... no.

Oh, and thank God for Penn and Teller, too, whom I recently found on YouTube (being an hitherto unexposed Brit).

Mark47... this argument is over. Your mind is closed.

I hate most religions just as much as the next guy. Psionic practice is not a religion however... it ties in with science. Listen to Einstein...

That's because you can't, which is why you chicken out every time.

That fact makes your statement about how I got "reamed" about Fox News hilarious. I said that their most famous commentators are biased but their straight news reporters are not. There was not a single counter to that by anybody, and you would be that last person to have the guts to actually debate me on something, other than your one Wikipedia article with false statistics about my city.

      http://jacksonms.areaconnect.com/statistics.htm

But what you say about cities and science could never be true any way. Reality is just an illusion. Right?

So my point stands. Science is much more rational than religion, as illustrated by the logic you can't counter.

      Wow. Your an idiot.

Don't you people fucking see past whats what in front of you? Haven't you considered the possibility that our consciousness isn't just simply a flurry of random brain activity? JESUS CHRIST YOU FOOLS - its already officially accepted in the scientific community that phenomena such as ESP exist! Of course they don't know how it works, but thats beyond the point! There is simply to much evidence supporting this type of phenomena... I mean the most brilliant thinkers of all time believed that consciousness wasn't just part of the brain. Even Einstein had his theory of non-locality...

Haven't you read about Project Star Gate? Haven't you read the HUNDREDS of THOUSANDS of reports from people who have experienced psychic phenomena? Do you ACTUALLY think that they are all lying? And don't you ask yourself the question: if I'm just random flurry of brain activity, then why the fuck do I have free will?

You can call me nuts, crazy, insane, mad or lost, but it doesn't even touch me. Imagine how I feel - here I am, 100% possitive that psionics and extra-consciousness exist, and here you are, completely clueless and completely close minded, unable to accept anything that isn't completely obvious, throwing all these rude and stupid remarks that only add on to how ignorant I think you are. DO YOU THINK I'VE NEVER BEEN A SKEPTIC?!? Don't give me that bullshit, I wanted psionics to exist before I knew they were real, but I also kept strict skeptism to the whole ordeal, until, of course, I finally found some proof (not to mention with several witnesses).

What concerns me is that you seem like you don't even WANT there to be more to life then whats right in front of your face. Guess what, answers are not going to come to you without any effort. You have to want to find it.
