chance (or: will dreamviews do my homework?)

what do you mean when you say "by chance" - like in "i met her by chance" (or "i happened to meet her") ?

i explain.... this is one of the cryptic exercises a teacher gives us. He asked to explain what we think without drowning in books - so i thought it would be nice to report some ideas from different people ( and if possible from people speaking different languages, so if your mothertongue is not english, your help will be very welcome:bowdown:)

When I say "I met her by chance", I mean it wasn't scheduled. I wasn't trying to meet anyone. I was out minding my own business, and all of a sudden, we met.

(just to be clear, i'm not asking for a translation, it is already a translation of the italian "per caso", i'm asking just for your personal thoughts.)

Chance only exists when you don't know what will happen. When you know you will meet someone for sure (like seeing into the future), then there is no more chance.
