      I be's smart

I hate the leader of Iran. He is so stupid.

If people like or agree with someone, they don't often question their intellect.
When they are not in agreement, they consider them stupid.
After a long debate or discussion, I can see how this may be relevant.

I want to understand why people consider either leaders to be stupid/dumb, or themselves to be smarter than many leaders.
      Some inevitably smarter than others.
How is their a justifiable way to think that these people have gotten to where they have gotten, with out having intelligence? Note -with out being an heir to a thrown.

Are you talking about the president or the supreme leader?

The president (Mahmour Ahmadinejad) is one of the most charismatic people i've seen on TV. If i was Iranian, i'd have no problem looking up to him. The supreme leader (Ali Khameini) has done a crapload for religion in Iran and was previously president. Also, the president is just a puppet. He's the spokesperson for the supreme leader. People talk about going after him or something, but he doesn't really do crap.

People consider their leaders to be stupid and dumb for so many reasons it would fill up this whole page just naming them. One reason that comes clear to me can be summed up in this quote: "Rarely is the question asked, is our children learning?"

People think they can do a better job because if they were president, they'd do what THEY wanted to do and not what the majority of the country wanted to do. If they don't agree with that, then they think the leaders are idiots.

People have gotten to where they have gotten through charisma. It's a fact; the tallest person with the best looks, teeth, and character will become president. It also helps if you have the same views as the majority of the people you are representing.

      Any leader of a society.
One approach that I feel is maddening. Hundreds and hundreds of speeches, meeting, or conferences and millions of words, and we get to extract any minute detail and extrapolate the information to bend it and twist it however we wish.

Yes they are figure heads, They still play a huge role in the over all scheme of things, no?

I don't think any national leaders are stupid. I think it takes a world class level of intelligence to become the leader of a nation, unless (like you said) they get their power because they are heirs to it. Sometimes they do things people consider stupid, but when that happens, it is really something intelligent behind the curtains and done for the sake of power or pay off. However, some of them are not very good speakers. Bush looks about a tenth as smart as he really is because he really sucks at giving speeches and answering questions. But sometimes I think that is an act which has some kind of political motive behind it.

Think of used car salesmen and how they think and act. Now imagine the people who would be the absolute best at playing that game. Those are politicians. National leaders are the best of the politicians, except for dictators. Dictators are the most talented, ruthless, and intelligent gangsters.

I really dislike being cliche, but the only world leader that I honestly feel like I am more intelligent than is George W. Bush. I honestly feel as though he played a very miniscule part in getting where he is today, and now that he is there, plays an even smaller role in what goes on. Everything he says is either prepared for him or completely asinine. I believe he is the quintessential political puppet/figurehead.

The ability to happily respond to any adversity is the divine.

Ignorance ,on the part of the one doing the thinking, of all the circumstances, and history of circumstances, surrounding the individual being judged.

I'm not real clear on what you are saying.
Ignorance and intelligence are two very different things.

If a leaders ignorant of the facts, then it is the facts he does not know. That in most cases does not reflect or have anything to do with his or hers intelligence.

Well, you missed that one completely.

The ones thinking that these people( leaders) have gotten to where they have gotten, with out having intelligence, are the ones who I say are ignorant of the circumstances surrounding the leaders, circumstances which leads directly to the decisions that those leaders make.

I have complete confidence that all leaders are making their decisions based on whats going on around them and in their lives. Things(circumstances) which I am completely ignorant of. Therefore completely cutting me out of the qualification of being their judge. Furthermore, what I would do if it were me is really unanswerable as I cannot even begin to contemplate or concieve of the circumstances I would be facing in their situation.

In short, there is not justifacation save for in ones own mind, according to ones own circumstances to judge a leader for what they do, in as much as calling one or another stupid or any other term.
