      transactional analysis

does anyone have any good info on this? *looks at o'nus*

i just picked up a book titled, i'm ok -- you're ok by thomas a. harris. am i wasting my time? i've only read the preface so far but i know absolutely nothing about the theory... only that it simplifies wording... and it has something to do with group therapy ???

again, i know nothing about it... such is the life of a student without a teacher... i have to go off of suggestions from others and learn myself... i just don't want to go through this whole book when i have others waiting to be read.

I have not personally delved into this too much, but from what I have heard, it is a very popular form of therapy.

It really utilises the factor of conformity with people.. having other people's point of views as well as a therapist prove a point of view.

Really it just seems to me like there are just too many people that need help so it was decided to just group them all up to make life easier and pay less taxes.

It is effective, but I still honestly advocate one-on-one therapy as it is simply more personal and sincere. Also, transactional therpay can have a lot of friction and fighting very easily between group members.

I don't condone it very well, but it is worth reading as it is a popular method. For me, it would be at the bottom (or near the bottom) of my "must read" list.

Edit Note: I know that AirRick101 knows a little about these methods as well. Give him a shout or erm... AIR RICK! AIRRICK! ERIC! *Waits with arms crossed *
