Thread: Are humans at the highest level of consciousness?

Well, there isn't exactly much competition...but then again, we don't really know what goes through the minds of animals...

But 'extra-concious'? Hmmn....its very hard to say...

I'd imagine there's a lot further one could go.

Well consciousness is pretty much the awareness of one's existence. It's really a yes or no question, are you conscious or not. There aren't many "levels" of consciousness.

Can one of 'lesser-consciousness' comprehend 'greater-consciousness'? If they can, wouldn't they be the 'greater-consciousness?' If you can understand something, then it is not greater than you.

You don't believe its possible to be more or less aware of one's existence? I may know that I exist, but I may not know exactly in what capacity, or by what mechanism. I think, "I am" is only the tip of a very deep iceberg, or rather the beginning of a long sentence and not the sentence itself. The measure of consciousness may be how long one can accurately continue the sentence "I am..."

Trafalmadorians have a higher level of consciousness than us. With all the dimensions of existence that we can't perceive let alone understand, and we're just not built for that. And Spartiate, I'd argue that consciousness compromises awareness of oneself, as well as one's state, or situation.

Yes its very possible. I beleive there are "levels" of aweareness in this reality as their are in lucid dreams, from my personal experience. Try looking up enlightenment or around the boat, although I'm not suggesting that I've been enlightened, but instead something close to a very high awareness but for short periods of time. I seek to prolong and grasp this higher conciousness of mine.

Why not? The next stage is awareness of others. The ability to shift and share consciousness.

Our brain is a physical thing. There is no radio waves (as far as we know) coming out of it to share consciousnesses with others. Our brain is just a complicated piece of flesh, with some electromagnetism. It doesn't protrude out of our bodies at all (as far as we know, again).

Although our bodies are made up of atoms, exactly the same as everyone else...and atoms conduct energy?

I'm having a bad day explaining things. Yeah thats what i meant

some guy has a computer chip in his brain and they are advancing the science to the point that they might be able to conect every person with a chip to the internet and if/when they do that we might be at a higher level but we won't know if we are just like we dont know how we got to this level.
