A sad story, what would you do?

Ok first of all, this story isn't mine, but it's a good thought provoker, right?

Here Goes:

A man becomes trapped in a piece of industrial piece of machinery which crushes his lower body. Unable to take him out without killing him, his fellow workers keep him alive long enough to get a good-bye kiss from his wife. The workers start the machine...... T_T

So, what would you do? Would you try to extract him, even though he would probably die, or would you just let the machine finish it's job? Don't feel emarassed, this story almost made me cry too....

So, pick your poison.

Those two sentences made you cry? What the hell much?

I would probably, I dunno, disassemble the machinery and try to take him out though.

Well being as...

-Leaving man in machine and starting machine = 100% chance of death

and

-Trying to extract man from machine = <100% chance death...

I'd try to get him out.

Yeah. I'd try to take him out. No way that's a true story. The guys who started the machine again would never work again if they did that. Be found guilty of manslaughter, possibly even murder.

isnt it obvious? you wouldn't take him out, you would call the abalunce and have professionals take him out. if he dies he dies only a idoit would start the machine.

I don't understand the "thought provoking" aspect of this post.

Would you rather...

Seems like there was nothing you could do for the guy, although starting the machine is the most ignorant thing I have ever heard.

Though I would like to know the extent of damage when crushed (like is this one of the scenarios where the person is going to bleed to death almost instantly once the machine is off of him?). The answer is still the same, I would remove the machine.

Sorry, I found this story hilarious. Could you imagine the one idiot who turns on the machine, and the face of the guy that is wondering "What the hell are you doing?" And the other guy is just "You're gonna die anyway..." and all the other guy's friends including his wife think that coworker is the most stupid piece of **** on the planet. And besides, I wouldn't call being eaten by company machinery a clean death. So I'd imagine the coworker saying "God rest his soul" and hitting the button and hearing whirring, grinding, screaming, hissing and whining, with the wife looking completely shocked and pissed.

According to the initial post he dies in either case. I would pump him up with opiates and painkillers until he dies.

if it was a scenario in America where i had a licensed Gun. In some ways i'd be tempted to shoot him in the temple and get it over with. If he was my friend i think i'd owe him that, i am assuming however his body has been crushed to the extent he wont survive his injuries if he is taken out( likely if we are saying a machine has crushed his body, it's probably the only thing stopping the rest of his blood gushing out).

If there was no Gun but i knew he would die in seconds if i started the machine, i'd do it. IF however his whole body wasn't trapped and crushed i'd call 999 and get the fire crew/ambulance to try and save him.

I just think starting up the machinery again is the most universally ignorant thing to do in any case. Wouldn't sound too well in court either.

PS: You still want some recognizable part of the body right? And you do want the machine to be somewhat intact after this, right?

If he had no choice...die, or die. I'd let him make his last choice. Die now, or die later but get a kiss and a goodbye to his wife. it's his life, it's his choice, if he's going to die anyway, let him choose what his last wish will be. I don't get why people make others suffer when they only have 1 choice. To die...you are either dead, or you will be forced to live but have huge pains for the rest of your life making life unbarable...of course if they say they wanna die but you can save them without them suffering then let them live, while the pain is too much to take now you would have regretted it to let them kill you when you did not have to die at all. I like how we do this for animals...once they start suffering we put them down, yet for humans we HAVE to make them suffer as much as possible.

Saying "kill me now" when you can be saved is like saying "kill me now" because you're depressed over a breakup or just in general. You heal up, things get better etc. Pain brings out the bad in you.

What if his lungs had filled up with fluid, or he was a mute?

I'd call a freakin' ambulance, and not fiddle around with that wife shit. That's common sense. If there's enough time to get his wife, there's twice as much time to get an ambulance. I'd leave him in until professional help arrives. I would not try to take him out! If I worked in a factory, chances are I'm not qualified as a doctor, and niether are my blue-collar buddies. Getting him out on our own would be unwise.

This story sounds like the same crap you read on those Youtube chain-mail comments.

I would see if he's reasoning right, and then i'd ask him, and do his will. If he's not reasoning right, it'd be way better for him to wait for a kiss of his wife.

What if you're a vegtable for the rest of your life? laying in a hospital, in a coma, will never be able to move ever again, pretty young. What if they come out of the coma and are forced to live on a bed for the rest of their lives. Would you rather be dead or alive knowing will not be able to leave the room you're in. Is it so bad they will die? are people too weak to know people don't wanna suffer like this, people wanna move because they can, they don't wanna be laying on a bed knowing they will never be outside again. Hell, for an animal (like a pet) most of the time WE are the ones who tell the vets to kill them, so what's different....a suffering human, or a suffering animal?
it's selfish to make a human suffer when there is nothing you can do. People live for liken 80 years, no way in hell am i going to be laying on a bed for say 60 years. If i have the chance to end my life, i would. Once you are forced to not move, your life has already ended.

What if you have both arms, and both legs cut off, and you just found out you have cancer. Or other things that can realistically happen.

Also, what's so bad about being dead? while i'm afraid of death but all that happens is you either you go see your dead family, or nothing at all forever, or untill a new you (reincarnation) becomes aware, and alive in this illusionary universe.

You are born to die.

Actually, I do think that human euthanasia should be legal...monitored, but legal.
