How do people live on without dreams?

As long as I could remeber I always held myself separate from other people, telling myself I had something they didn't. Of course I grew up trying to find this, and came to a painfull realization. Most people aren't special, they live and die and the world forgets them.

How do people live on and cope knowing they were born without a dream meant for them? Born to be forgotten?

I don't see how being remembered is relevant to the meaning of life... It's just the AIDS of media indoctrination telling you that you have to be famous for life to be meaningful or joyful.

It doesn't have to do with the meaning of life. It just seems pointless to live without immortalizing ourselves in history. Wouldn't you want to leave something of yourself behind? Ex. Kids, Accomplishments, ect.

Don't you see a problem with that sentence?

You got me there. I'm always thinking illogically and I sometimes word stuff funny. Can you understand my thinking as in "What meaning I should accomplish in life" rather than "What meaning I have in life"?

I can certainly live with being forgotten. After I die.

But what's the big deal? You won't be able to hang around to enjoy it...

yaaaa... As if us humans are not selfish enough now we demand things after our death.

There are very few people who live a life that goes on to be recognized after they are dead. Time has a way of dealing with that very quickly.
For those who our famous enough to live on and to be remembered famously or infamously are only a projection of what history makes them out to be.
None of us know Thomas Edison, Adolph Hitler, or Jesus Christ. It is almost a figment of our imagination after very much time has passed.

If living your life in the present helps you strive for new goals and accomplishments then I guess that is a good thing.

I have pondered over the aspect of carrying over our lineage. Is this a form of instinct?
Do we think on some level that we are special enough to think the world need one or more of our offspring?
I mean really ask yourself, why do I want to carry on your name?

Just wondering but why do people care if the world remembers them or not? if it's family or friends then that's a different story but if they forgot it's not the end of the world. You will be in the ashes of unexsitance eventually, like say 200+ years and you are forgotten forever or untill you come up in research. 1000+
years and research wont even find you anymore, just the important people so you're truely forgotten. Why do people always wanna be remembered? Assuming we die and nothing happens then we are ment to not exist at all. If we are alive after death then we are supposed to exist.

ask yourself, who is more important in your life right now? someone who is dead and written in a history book, or someone close to your heart?

history books do not equal importance, or 'special'. we are all capable of being 'special' and being remembered to those around us in more meaningful ways than a textbook

it shouldn't matter that you're remembered by people you dont know for doing something that doesn't effect them directly when you wont even be alive to care. All that should matter is right here and now and being special to those you care about.

I guess people who feel this way are those hold significance to their self-worth. Usually, they want to be worthy enough to be around their loved ones.

Apparently, people are all so different, their lives are motivated by many different things around them.

Then I'm just saying what I think it is.
And if I had wheels, I'd be a wagon.

this sounds more like a desire to PROVE your own self worth

this is more of a personal mental issue. if you have self worth, you don't need to PROVE it. if you still feel a need to PROVE something, then you lack it.

For me, I just want to look back when I'm old, and just be content with what I did. I want to know, that I used my potential for the greater good. I don't want to look back and have 'what if' thoughts.

I pretty much know that I will not be remembered a long time from now. Eventually, memories of me will fade somewhere down the family line. But that's not of my concern. My concern is now, and what I do with myself while I'm here, because that's all that matters... not whether or not people remember me a millennium from now.

As of now, we know we've got one shot at life. Do what you feel is right.

The only law in life is do what you want to do. Live out your dreams and make them reality. Nobody is holding you back but yourself.. this world is your playground. There are a lot of fears who are going to keep you back from your true potential, especially the fear of failing. What you need to do is face all your fears. Each failure is a step closer to succes, a step closer to your dreams. You never truly fail in life unless you fail to get back up.

Imo, everyone is special, everyone has different dreams, giving up on your dreams is like giving up on life. If you plan to live the rest of your life for the purpose of sleeping eating and fucking you might as well just have been born like a monkey, life wouldn't be any different for you, except for the TV and the hamburgers from McDonald. The only problem I see with life is thats there no way I'll have enough time to live out all my dreams. This is where lucid dreaming kicks in to speed up the learning process.

About leaving a legacy.. everybody does, in the form of their dreams. This world is only made out of dreams. Look around you, every single concept or object you will perceive has been the dream of some human being. The chair you are sitting on, the house you are living in, the clothes you are wearing, the life you have been given..

We believe that we will do somthing to become somthing above the rest. If we are better than adverage, than do we really die? Is Salvador Dali really dead? Is Jesus really dead? I say no, we remember them becasue they were above the rest. And when we admire a work of art or the beauty of someone's life, we become them. So we cope with the hope that we may not die.

By far, Mothra (in all of it's forms) is the worst kaiju of all time.

I don't want to go to the mall and be mobbed by people wanting my autograph. I don't even want them to know who I am. However, I would like to have a famous name without a famous face. In fact, I would like for my name to be remembered even past the time humans stop living on Earth. It would be cool if my name were remembered for something huge when humans are living on space stations and other planets and Earth is just the historic place where humans originated. That is one of my recurring fantasies. Ironically, when that era does come, I am going to be dead and not caring one way or the other whether may name was remembered.
How do you know you are not dreaming right now?
