Hmmm... I'm real, I know I'm conscious, and you're just a DC with the sole mission of getting my attention with this thread and opening up my mind, the only existing mind, to the possible truth. |

My friend and I were talking tonight about a wide variety of issues, and eventually we came on the subject of life being a dream. Basically, we had this idea that perhaps everything, everyone, et al; and we realised that if all of you, if everything were in fact the figment of my imagination, I would be the sole creator of existance. Likewise, perhaps you're to sole creator of existance. But I mean, I know I'm real, because I know I'm conscious. Tell me, what's it like to be a figment of my imagination? Since you're not real, will you have any kind of sex with me I want? |

Quin custodiet custodes ipsos?
You can spend years debating about these kinds of ideas without ever really coming to any conclusions, but one thing I've learned is that you have to be very careful when you are using the word "real". There's nothing that contributes more to meaningless philosophical meanderings than the over-use of words like "real", "really" and "reality". What could it possibly mean to say "that isn't real" about something? As far as I can tell, you're not saying anything more than "that isn't what I thought it was". For example, suppose you see a cat on your floor, but then you kick it and realize it's a toy. You say, "Aha, it wasn't real." But it is REAL. It exists, it's there, you can touch it. It's just not what you expected it to be. Similarly, people have argued that we can't even be sure if we are real ourselves because we could just be figments of some god-like being's imagination. But I fail to see how that makes us "not real". Surely we exist in some sense, or else we wouldn't even be asking these questions. Perhaps it's not the sense we expect it to be, perhaps it's not the sense we'd like it to be, but it is some sense. |
|
Maybe our senses innately can't detect our origin and that's just part of our reality and when we die we'll be released back to the astral plane again. Or mabye I need to keep my imagination in check. |

Your Dreams are Truly Yours!
I once had a mushroom trip where I came to the conclusion that I created my whole universe..everything you can imagine"THoguht, matter, life existence" I made up, and I thought I was really jsut completely insane and made it up and it felt like I just suddenty realized it. But what's real? Eh...who cares whats real or whats not or whats this way or that way. IM done with insanity and all that matters to me is my experience. |

Everybody stop messing with me, you know none of you are real. If you want to trick me into believing it's real, it won't work. |
|
Nice try everyone, but you're not fooling me. |

Actually, I believe that the way we view the rest of the world is a reflection of ourselves. "Is the glass half full or half empty?" The degree of our own realness is dependent on our own individual capacity to see the realness in the world around us. Your inability to see the realness in others, is a reflection of your own inability to see you own realness. |

Isn't this sopilism? Or perhaps it's a variation of it. There's a topic about it somewhere in this section. |
|
I think these kinds of threads are stupid. These are questions I would ask myself when little. How is it that people are not so bright enough to know what real is. Must be drugs. |

When I dream, theres always a
little girl playing in the dirt, that
turns to me and says "Why are
you here? .... Are you blind like
me?"
What I've found
What I've known
Never shined to me what I've shown
Never be
Never free
I wish to see what might have been...
...So I talk to you unbeliever.

Actually YOUR post was the most unintelligent, self-assuming, closed minded post I have read since coming onto these forums. But then an apple is an apple. Things are exactly as they seem. What you describe as Real is the only Real right? |
