A lot less fun, I'd say...
It would be the same, except without dreams.
I wonder if that'd make it harder for you to be woken up.
Why is this in philosophy though?
It's not a philosophical question, it's just mental masturbation.
Wait...
Haha, the threads he's made so far. I think
I WISH TO GO TO SUN I WISH TO GO TO SUN SUN I WISH TO GO TO SUN
it would be like, being a perfectly normal person
as most normal people actually don't remember their dreams. they go to sleep, and poof wake up. boring huh? let's all appreciate the subjective reality a little more!!
Quite a life that must be to not have dreams...
Life would not be any different, because the human race would not even know the concept of a dream. If we never dreamed, than the word "dream" would not even be used, and this forum would not exist.
Guess what it's like for people with low or zero dream recall. I don't think you need to add a "What if" in your thread title there.
Well brain activity being identical is true... But how do you know they can easily be taught to remember? Has there been an experiment, with participants starting off all claiming that they never remember their dreams?
I don't know, I'm only speculating... But I do fully believe it's true that we all dream.
Ive had friends that didn't know that everyone dreams every night, as in, a scientific fact
since they didn't remember their dreams, and neither knew about the fact that everyone dreams every night - they did believe that they did not dream
"I don't have dreams" is what they would tell me
their world, wow. you don't want to be in it.
on a more philosophical note, without dreams, spirituality as we know it might as well be non-existent.
Are there people out there who consider themselves spiritual who don't remember their dreams? ... Maybe..
Yeah, I remember reading in books where a character 'dreamt of nothing; their sleep was clear' for dramatic effect, and I'm like haha no.
^ Heh :P
Well, we'd have evolved some other method to compensate whatever use dreaming has. Perhaps a section of our brains would shut off while the other remains awake (as in dolphins). A few major discoveries wouldn't have been made, and a few poetic works wouldn't have been constructed, but I'd assume we'd eventually find them while awake, as we do with most discoveries.
I wouldn't like it, dreams remind us this isn't the only place out there.
