Would you want to be one of the 5%?

World War III is over. Nukes were finally used near the end but not until other ICBMs had devastated entire populations. Even areas where people wouldn't think anyone would strike, (smaller populated ares,) suffered very heavy losses or were wiped out. Nuclear radiation makes entire areas unliveable, but not enough of them were used to cause nuclear winter or death to the planet. 95% of all humans are dead. Animals have suffered more varying losses, depending. 5% are remaining and have to rebuild society. (Or, if there are those oppossed to society, they live off the land.) Assume that almost everyone, (if not everyone,) you know has either been killed or would be desperatly seperated from you with little chance of finding you.

The question stands... Would you want to be one of the 5%?

Yep. Sounds like a good opportunity to rebuild Earth, but do it properly this time.

It's really fascinating how much people are fascinated by apocalyptic event. Really, why do people for millennia have believed 'the end is near'? It's just silly.

As for the question: I have to say, based on zombie-movies, I am Legend, Mad Max, and stuff like that... Fuck yeah!

Yeah but I need to do some push ups first.

Everything works out in the end, sometimes even badly.

Probaly, I might just end up killing my self though, but curious to see the aftermath...

my family is important to me. I would have stayed by their side to the end

if my family is dead, I must have died too. thats my deciding factor.

I'm honestly tired of this of this apocalyptic visions of the future. and people looking forward to the end. I don't look forward to it, I would much rather work against this end of civilization and help civilization evolve. rather than being on the other side of its death and starting from scratch. that would be a tragedy. there is no reason for civilization to fall apart or to have billions suffer just to get things to where they should be

Survivors will likely group up and work together for the most part. There will be areas where people are alone or in small handfuls that may be rounded up eventually. Number/size in/of groups? You really can't be sure. You can assume that there is some remnant of industry as far as factories go and such. Most buildings are still in tact. But government and currency are gone. Whether government has some hold still is yet to be seen. The uncertainty is part of the decision.

Then I guess I would say yes, but I retain the option to terminate my life at a later date; that is, I say yes as long as I don't necessarily have to die of old age or some disease.

The question is soley whether or not you would want to die during the war, most likely due to a bomb if you are a civilian. Any moral questions about society, suicide, or anything are soley up to you. Nothing is binding, assumed, or required about your actions in the aftermath if you choose to survive.

Then yes. But the way the question is stated, no one would ever say no. You need to give some incentive for saying no.

It's kind of a moral question. If you choose to live with the intent of commiting suicide, you have taken the place of someone else who otherwise would have lived but you ended your life to escape. Many would find that wasteful, wrong. The stat is 5% whether you live or not.

Also, you'd have seen so much death and everyone you know pass away, for some it would be better to have passed with them.
