Something lighthearted about life after death

      Something I found interesting...

Two embryos in a pregnant women's womb talk to each other.

      - \"Do you believe in life after birth?\"

      - \"Of course there is life after birth! I believe we are here to be prepared for what awaits us.\"

      - \"Nonsense. There is no life after birth. Besides, what could it possibly look like?\"

      - \"I don't know for sure, but I believe there will be more light there. Perhaps we will be able to walk and eat with our mouths!\"

      - \"What a bunch of crap! You cannot walk! Eat with your mouth? That's absolutely ridiculous! We are fed through umbilical cord. And let me tell you something: life after birth is impossible - the umbilical cord is too short already.\"

      - \"No, there's gotta be something. Maybe it'll be just a bit different that what we got used to.\"

      - \"But noone came back after birth. Life is simply ended by birth. Besides, life is nothing but a long painful darkness.\"

      - \"Well, I don't know what it will look like after birth, but we will undoubtedly see Mom and she will take care of us.\"

      - \"Mom? You believe in Mom? And where is she supposed to be located?\"

      - \"Well, everywhere around us! We live within her and thanks to her. Without her we wouldn't exist.\"

      - \"I don't believe in it at all. I have never seen any Mom, so it is clear that Mom doesn't exist.\"

      - \"But sometimes, when it's quiet, you can hear her sing, or you can feel her touching our world. You know, I really believe that the real life awaits us after birth!\"
      [/b]

God, I don't want to be born all over again. It was messy enough the first time.

I watched some of "Junior" last night. Oh boy, babies are so gross. I was so grossed out that I was born. I'd never want to do it again either.

      ...

But babies are SO awkward when they come out. And I'm perfectly happy knowing what I know and doing what I do HERE.
Thanks, but I'll stay nice and comfortable here in MY own coffin.

So judging by the replies, with exception to Xisdence (in this case we eliminate the top value because it throws the general curve ), how about we calculate the mean maturity level on a scale of 1 to 10 Who wants to do the calculations? I'm too lazy, I've gotta go throw eggs at cars.

That's awesome, how it's so much like the dialogues today...but with characters switched around.

I can see our human life on earth as something between 2 ending points on a spectrum. Before birth, we didn't exist, at least not humanly. And after death, it should be the same thing, if not too similar. Many people like to unbalance this by saying we are accountable for nothing that happened before birth, and it's our responsibility what happens to us after we die...what the heck???

I find it interesting how our basic fundamental character never actually changes throughout our lives. Sure we find different ways of expressing ourselves, and various influences change the way we interact with our world, but our basic thought process - our level of ambition, our likes/dislikes, and our very essence always stays the same. It makes me think that it had to come from somewhere, and since our cellular structure is constantly changing, it would lead me to believe that there's something else at play there, something which may have existed before we were born. The controversial "soul" theory perhaps

Ahhhhhhh! I understand wot the main post means!
It means that we might not have known about life after birth as though we didn't know about life after death. Arggghhhhh i think that came out wrong! OK but i still understand the link between the first post and life after death.

The message basically says that to refute a reality which is not directly visible, is to display true ignorance of the wide spectrum of what's actually going on. But I don't want to call it that, people are entitled to believe what they want on the matter

      :bravo: Ten points!

      lol j/k.

When I first saw the topic I thought it was gonna be one of those flash animations like the Grim Reaper Show (which btw is pretty anti-religious, in a crude way)

If you can draw some extraordinary conclusion about an afterlife from a conversation between two talking fetus, which, to no surprise, do not have the power to contemplate such things as death and life or even see or speak, then more power to you.

This story may outwardly seem relevant and insightful, but it boils down to a cheap way of likening a completely unrelated incident to another without much reasoning. It would be like having two snails talk to one another about praying in order to get into heaven - it's not possible, feasible, and, as you said above, shows a real ignorance to the true workings of life, intelligence, god, and death.

Snail One: So, have you been praying to God lately?

Snail Two: Nope. Apparently only humans can go to heaven and, according to their bible, they claim mastery over the 'beasts' such as ourselves.

Snail One: Why's that? The only difference between us and them are less neurons and snyapses in the brain. Simply because they have an evolutionary capacity for higher level learning they get a free pass to the afterlife?

      Snail Two: Yep.

Snail One: Well, it's nice to not have to worry about it and enjoy the life we do have.

      Snail Two: Sure is.[/b]

Perhaps you should read the second sentence before posting something like that:

But I don't want to call it that, people are entitled to believe what they want on the matter

I'm not trying to be scientific, I'm using it as an analagy

I understand that it is supposed to be an analogy. What confuses me is that anyone would consider it to be a good analogy.

So, like the ass that I am, I put in my opinion.
I wasn't directing it towards you in particular. More towards the story itself.

Although your opinion is appreciated AcidBasick pyour basically turning a good story/analogy/example/metaphore into an ass end topic.

I consider it to be good, the story of the 2 babies, it tells a story in laymens terms. Oh but you call it stupid as it consists of 2 babies talking to each other, either
      a) Your not very reasonable for thinking it was about babies proving the impossible or
      B) You have no good english skills and arn't very good at interpretation

This story may outwardly seem relevant and insightful, but it boils down to a cheap way of likening a completely unrelated incident to another without much reasoning[/b]
Ok lets break that sentance down. Relating a completely unrelated incident, hmm babies are related to our problem of not knowing what lies after birth or death, to another without much reasoning, well even though babies cant talk ect, they provide a similar example of our situation, not knowing much about the outside. man if u really look at that sentence its just a few big words that are, well dumb
Much reasoning, ok we take away the really sentimental bit of the babies, and exchange it with two guys who were born with an island who don't know if there are other people alive, they think it's just them. Well now the story doesn't have as much effect, it works better with the babies, THINGS DONT NEED TO BE RELATED TO HAVE REASON,

      well, there's my opinion

I don't believe you understand my point. Listen closely.

The story is about the babies. It's about their experience and how it relates to ours. Understand that the experience of death and dying is completely seperate, unique, and different from birth. Nothing is retained in death. You don't keep your body when you die. It decays. Eventually there's going to be nothing left of you. You arn't still conscious when you die. You don't have continued brain activity. Human babies are not able to understand death or life. The fetus tell eachother that there is something beyond the womb, but you and I know that they wouldn't be able to talk and think about life in terms of birth and rebirth, so tell me why this story has relevance? Tell me how this says ANYTHING about an afterlife? There's no DEEP meaning here. There's NOTHING here that can tell you anything insightful about an afterlife in humans. It's two objects yaking to another which otherwise wouldn't be able to.

The cornerstone of believing in an afterlife is intelligence. Without it, you wouldn't care either way.

exchange it with two guys who were born with an island who don't know if there are other people alive, they think it's just them. Well now the story doesn't have as much effect, it works better with the babies,[/b]
You know why? It's impossible to relate something other then grown humans to an afterlife. No other life on this planet has been shown to consider their mortality. Why would a baby be considering it's mortality when it doesn't even know it exists? Can a snail consider an afterlife?

THINGS DONT NEED TO BE RELATED TO HAVE REASON, [/b]
      Main Entry: analˇoˇgy
      Pronunciation: &-'na-l&-jE
      Function: noun
      Inflected Form(s): plural -gies
1 : inference that if two or more things agree with one another in some respects they will prob. agree in others
2 a : resemblance in some particulars between things otherwise unlike : SIMILARITY b : comparison based on such resemblance[/b]
The story was an analogy. The analogy, in my opinion, is unfit for the situation. It related two concepts that are not similar in any aspect.

lmao, well ok i don;t care anymore, obviously you are still learning

if you think this is stupid, and you also think that typical stories in the bible are stupid, (as usually they represent a situation through a story) then your an idiot. seriously,

AND NO MY CAPS LOCK KEY ISNT STUCK ON OR BROKEN, IM JUST MAKING SURE YOU CAN SEE THIS

(ps, i am a nice person really, it's just that your views on this, well are different, but other than that, i wish you well)
