I'm not afraid of death. I'm excited to get an answer to that old bothersome question, "What comes next?" I am afraid of dying. I'm afraid it will be painful for me, and heartbreaking for everyone I know.

I think that as long as it was just like some ninja chopping off my head real quick It wouldn't bother me. Although you live for like 5 seconds before you die, but seeing my own body headless would be kind of cool.

I actually look forward to death, solving into eternity. Not that I want to die, definitely not! I love life to much. It just is something I definitely want to experience, in about hundred years or so.
What's the difference between dreaming that you're lucid and lucid dreaming?

As a child i was, but threw my life i've come to realize we don't actually die, even if we don't reincarnate or go to heaven or anything else our body is energy that is forever and endlesly cycled, and our minds are a part of a universal mind... and i don't think the universal mind dies when a single person does so it must go on atleast in a dream state. I only fear the action of dying... also think about this: When you die you become nutrients in the soil, say a strawberry bush grows over your body and absorbs that nutrients and uses it to make a berry, say a person eats that berry and some of the nutrients gained is used in the human to create a sex cell, that new person has some of you in them, you never actually die. This awareness passes and we no longer observe the universe as a single entity. That's the gift of life uniqueness...

Being fully aware of the air whipping by you, controlling every movement of every single atom in your body with a single thought. It's real freedom, and there's not a word good enough to describe it, so I'll just call it dreamy for now."

Your whole body regenerates every 7 years, so already you have shared all your body's molecules with the world a couple of times.

It is as if we are reincarnations of people who once lived.
How do you know you are not dreaming right now?

I'm only afraid of death if there's something after it. I've always felt this way.

Do you mean like in hell or heaven or what do you mean? What is it then there that you're afraid of?

Hell obviously if it exists, but firstly I'm afraid of the scientific implications (because it seems to screw them up). But also, I would just be chucked out into the spirit world like a lost child not knowing what to do. And if some entity found me, how would I know how to trust them? The hard truth is that there is literally no way to trust anything you meet there. For all you know they are all out to get you. At least on Earth you know that few people have such intentions.

Afraid of death? I scoff in the face of death!

Like many have stated, I do not fear death, but I also don't wish it upon myself. It'll happen when it happens, and if it takes a bit too long to get there, there's always a car in a closed garage. I'm talking about when I'm 90-something (assuming I live that long) and on my last leg, in constant agony. Just saying...slowly slipping into sweet, eternal sleep doesn't sound too bad to me. I'm gonna live it up in the mean time, though. I'm not talking short, fleeting happiness, either. I'm talking long-term, lasting happiness. I plan to go to my grave happy, sliding in sideways, my body worn and tattered. Life is here to enjoy, and damn it all, I'm gonna enjoy it the best I can!

As for the afterlife, I highly doubt it exists. Sounds rather hellish anyway. The idea of dying and facing a black void is scary to many, but keep in mind you won't be around for any of it anyway. Live the best you can, change the world for the better, and make a name for yourself. And live it up, for Pete's sake!

I don't fear death. Death is simple and common. I fear a global apocalypse or the downfall of human civilization as we know it.

Somehow, even this doesn't bother me. Maybe I'm just a cold-hearted prick, but I don't really care, to be honest. Bring on 2012...I'm curious now.

I have another question for everybody. Could you be perfectly calm with a loaded gun held up to your head by a known killer? In that situation, painful death and awareness of the dying process are not threats. You just very well might die, and you won't even know you're dying. It would be sudden. Who can stay calm and have peace of mind in that situation? Could you genuinely laugh at a joke?
How do you know you are not dreaming right now?

I think my thought process would go something like this...
      *click*
      "Ah, shit."
      "Goodbye, cruel world."
      *Life flashes before eyes*
      *Bang!*
      Dead.

It would be awesome to make a last joke and go out with a great laugh Why not make the best out of the situation

I don't think many people could.

It is my belief that we all, humans all have an innate, instinctual fear of death. It is literally something we are imbued with at conception, the instinct to survive (and by extension not to die). It is hardwired into us.

i can say beyond a shadow of a doubt that...: If i were in the position to defend myself i would because i would like to see how my son grows into a man. I would also like to finish my book and see how it fairs amongst today's society. But, if i were unable to defend myself or knew i wouldn't be quick enough to in the moment i would be thankful of the 21 years I've had so far, laugh to myself and close my eyes and smirk because i know I'm about to get an answer to the biggest question ever asked...

But he said that you lost nothing. You lost alot, you're just back to your original state. However you did not lose nothing, you lost what you had gained, and although you have already dealt with and conquered having nothing, you did in fact lose everything you had upon death's approach.

honestly in my point of view nothing is "mine" in life I'm simply living in borrowed space on borrowed time with borrowed stuff, that will be someone else's someday or thrown away.... the only thing that truly is yours is your consciousness and that is what would be taken from you, so i wouldn't be afraid of death, i'd be pissed that the person or situation is taking what isn't there's...

You've lost nothing in a net sense. If you're in a company and you have a total yearly profit of $5,000, and the next year you lose $5,000, in a net sense, you have neither lost nor gained anything over the past two years.

Are you a fan of 'The Streets'? Referring to 'Everything else is just borrowed' and your name 'Memento mori' and all?
What's the difference between dreaming that you're lucid and lucid dreaming?
